FR, I've given my opinions time and time again--This was just a summation. I have nothing against gays--I love many of them, in fact. But at 2% they are an abnormality in society--and I am against society codifying any abnormality--no matter how sweet they are.

Do you oppose inter-racial marriage too? (Edit: Because the reasoning would appear to apply equally to them)

Moonbat, I've heard you make some decent arguments about this in the past, but you have to admit (from an academic perspective) that you cannot compare the two in that manner. Cosmetic qualities (eye color, skin color, hair color, height, etc) are in a different category from gender qualities.

I mean, for Christ's Sake, look at those wankers running for office and trying to persuade us that they're normal.

That's hilarious!

I don't know about hilarious, but it's true. I'm dead serious about not wanting to be normal. Normality is average, mundane, vanilla. It stinks.

Yea, but your're English. No one that comes from England is normal. You are just defining yourself.

Thanks Peggy - I hope I dont offend you with any of these comments. I'm sure I'd get along great with both your sons. :thumb:

I think they'd get along with you, too, Isaac.

You know an invite is always waiting for you.

added edit: They both enjoy Smithwick's

Microsoft share three of four of those letters.

LOL!

Well, kudos to Canada.

My thought on gay marriage, is one that I saw on a rather clever bumper sticker, but I take my wisdom where I find it:

"Don't want gay marriage? Don't HAVE one!"

After all, gays should have just as much right to be as miserable as the rest of us.

Homosexuality is not an aberration. It has nothing to do with a defective gene or someone's mother not loving them. That is ignorant. Tom, you're about forty years behind the times. Homosexuality hasn't been been considered an aberration in almost that long.

As far as whether same sex relationships should be codified in your opinion, today you say that they should not. I think I remember you saying that they should be, although not marriage.

Enjoy Paris. :wave2:

As far as same sex marriage, in the year and a half I've been posting here, I've changed my mind. I no longer think that same sex marriage is the only good option. I would be very happy with a national civil union law like the one in the UK.

Actually, we have a watered down domestic partner law in Hawaii, similar to what 89th describes, and Jim and I are doing that next month, and I am grateful to be able to do that, primarily for rights to hospital visitation and health care decisions.

89th, nice post.

Fvck it. Let 'em get hitched. And divorced. And broke from lawyer fees.

You know, I've also seen that on a bumper sticker regarding the abortion issue.

I think it's the DUMBEST argument out there.

You could say that with any law, and then we would have no laws! "Don't like murder? Then don't do it!" or "Don't like pedophilia? Then don't do it!"

No offense to you, Frank.

I can't speak for Moonbat, and I am interested in his reply, but I don't see anything wrong with what he said.

Homosexuality is a natural variation in human sexuality, although I understand that some people will always believe that it is an illness or a sin. Some people don't think that way, and I think those of you who do are basically shocked that some people don't.

Actually, while Moonbat might not see this in time, you are right. Regarding the *reasoning against codifying for abnormalities*, his inter-racial example holds. But then again, I dont agree with Tom's point about that...I think there are better arguments out there against 2-male or 2-female marriages out there than just the fact that they are an abnormal occurrence.
