Probably why Quirt is so quick to argue - it's in his Genes.

His girlfriend just may be a transsexual!

FYI: I'm against the "gay marriage" thing. Much to slimey for me. I don't care if it's a defective gene or their mother loved too much or not enough--marriage is for the meanstream of society. I'm sure the others will do just fine. I wish them all the best of what life has to offer. They know who and what they are. Civil Unions--I'm all for them--wear matching wedding gowns for all I care.

I'm off to Paris for three weeks with my wife and daughter.

Enjoy your New Year.

You go, 89th! I'm proud of you~

I don't agree with you. But, you've grown so much! and have become such a gentleman!

I'm very proud of you. I believe you've gained some empathy and compassion in the past couple of years

Yes, while our work is not yet done, all thanks to TNCR, we've made much progress in making 89th a better person.

Tom
The two people I know that are in a same-sex relationship with adopted kids are far from slimey.

While I respect your opinion, your reasoning is pretty shallow.

BTW Have fun in Paris.

FR, I've given my opinions time and time again--This was just a summation. I have nothing against gays--I love many of them, in fact. But at 2% they are an abnormality in society--and I am against society codifying any abnormality--no matter how sweet they are.

Thanks for the well wishes.

Do you oppose inter-racial marriage too? (Edit: Because the reasoning would appear to apply equally to them)

I have no problem with inter-racial marriages. Peope are people. Red heads, blonds, blacks and Chinese. Normal sexality is boy-girl for all. Abnormal sexality--

Your analogy doesn't hold.

Well since inter racial couples make up a tiny percentage of society they are an abnormality and as such if one does not think that any abnormality should be codified. Then...

I mean if that's not the logic then what is the logic? Is it just "abnormal" sexuality that should not be codified? All other kinds of abnormality are fine? That seems slightly arbitrary doesn't it? (Your initial statement was about "any abnormality)

Further when you say sexuality a minority of people might find some particular characteristic sexually attractive, take people with feet fetishes, should they be allowed to marry? Are they not sexually "abnormal" since their preferences are in a minority?

Blonds and brunets, blacks and whites are a logical sequence of people meeting people. You can break down people in any non sexual subclassifications you want. No matter who they are they have heterosexual sex.

Homosexuality is an aberation.

Fetishes are nothing other than interests. People shouldn't be allowed to marry on that inclination alone. It serves no purpose for soiety to codify such unions. They can have their inclinations--but it shouldn't be codified.

But why is footfetishism not an aberation? Most people are not foot-festishists surely then those who have a foot-fetish are an abnormality? Even if one is restricting consideration just to sexuality surely people with foot-fetishes are sexually abnormal (if abnormal is taken simply to be a minority).

If all you care about are that these footfetishists are heterosexual, then that suggests that deep down you don't really believe the justification you gave. If all other minority behaviours or preferences don't matter, then claiming that the _reason_ you object to homosexual marriage is because it's an abnormality (in the sense that it's a status/preference only applicable to a small percentage of the population) hence should not be codified, is really not the case. That isn't the reason.

Really that's just a rationlisation, you object to homosexual marriage for some other reason perhaps a reason you don't know but the 2% of the population thing doesn't seem to work.

Edit: Missed this:

If all two people have in common is sexual attraction due to one another's feet then i would agree with you that perhaps marriage wasn't the best thing for them (though i would disagree with you that one should take any actions to prevent their marriage). The missing ingredient though is surely nothing to do with sexuality but is infact just love.

I have heard homosexuality..... it's the same as left handedness...around 10%

So are all people left-handed an aberation?

As far as handedness is concerned - obviously yes.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Actually, we're more intelligent than you lot. Higher than average intelligence is an abnormality, yes?

Who wants to be normal, anyway? It's bloody boring. I mean, for Christ's Sake, look at those wankers running for office and trying to persuade us that they're normal.

I don't know about hilarious, but it's true. I'm dead serious about not wanting to be normal. Normality is average, mundane, vanilla. It stinks.
