Hello from Queretaro, Mexico! This is a fabulous city - we got here yesterday, after spending four days in Guanajuato and an afternoon in San Miguel Allende. Anyway, we're taking plenty of photos and I'll post a full report when we get back. Cheers! |

I've heard that San Miguel Allende has some of the most amazing and overwrought Mexican Baroque churches -- pictures please! |

I took several pictures of La Parroquia, the baroque chuch in the main square, with you in mind. Apparently the guy who did it was not a trained architect - just a man with a great imagination, apparently working off postcard pictures of European churches. Laymen like me tend to love the church, but I've heard the cognoscenti tend to deride it as "baroquesque". |

Happy holidays, Jon. I'll be looking forward to those photos. I toured a number of Brazilian churches, particularly in Minas Gerias and it was an experience I still remember very well. Big Al |
