HOLY CARP!!!
Are you going to start a what did you get for Christmas thread this year? It hardly seems like a year ago when I got my iPod and I remember you got one too. My big present (a ring) is coming in Janurary. At least I'll be very surprised if that's what's in the box. :P

Merry Christmas,

D.

I bought Mrs. Frank_W an iTouch, and she's thrilled with it. I got an Ibanez hollow-body, and it's featured in my latest recording. (See my sig)

The munchkin got several items for her dolls that she's been wanting, and tomorrow, we're taking her out to buy a pair of roller skates. (They still sell roller skates, right?) And we're also getting her a dog. She's been begging for one for a couple of years now, and whenever we go near a pet store, she wants to go in and look at the dogs, but has resigned herself to the fact that she can't have one.

So...... Tomorrow's going to be a big surprise for her. :-) Santa's just running a bit behind schedule, this year. That's all. LOL

Nope, they're too dangerous. see Wimpyparent v. Perfectlysafe Elementary School (2007).

But I heard the new iSkate just came out; the munchkin doesn't even have to do anything at all; just hook them up, and the skates do all the work, complete with protective laser technology to avoid collisions.

Frank, she's going to be so excited! I had to ask for a pet for three years before I got one. :P It sounds like your family is ready and I think that's great. Merry Christmas! :)

Thanks, Daniel. To you and yours, as well.

We've already got two cats, and I'm not looking at a specific breed, but I want a BIG dog. If I were looking at breeds, I'd go with a Newfoundland, Saint Bernard, Burnese Mountain dog, or a Rottweiller. We'll see... :D Heck, I'm just as excited about it as she's going to be. LOL

(The cats are going to be sooooo pissed!!) :lol2:

Get a Swissie Frank! They are like Bernease, but with a short coat. Great dogs.

Well, we'll just see what the pet store has. I've secretly wanted a dog for a long time myself, but was always a little reluctant for the care and attention they require, compared to cats. I'm really not looking for a breed, so much as the size. Larger dogs, in general, seem to have a mellower temperament, and don't always act like they have to prove something.

The Swissies ARE very handsome dogs.... :thumb:

In that case, get a pound puppy! The pet stores generally do not have better bred dogs. They get them from the puppy mills.

Big mutts are healthier, smarter and much more interesting dogs!

Well, we have two pet stores; PetsMart and PetLand.

We tried to get a cat from the Humane Society, a couple years ago. We brought a cat kennel with us, and we were fully prepared to take one home, and besides, the place was all but SWIMMING with cats. The "very nice lady" said that they were having a meeting in a week, and if we would fill out an application, they would vote on whether our home was suitable or not. WTF??? We've got a huge house and we've always had cats. I walked out. I'd just as soon not have anything more to do with the Human Society. I've never heard such bullsh!t in my entire life.

You meant to say the Humane Society. That was unintentionally funny. :ph43r:

You know, I think it is total BS that some of them do that. I mean if I take a stray
dog or cat, I am doing YOU a favor. I would have walked out too. Damn right.

They didn't do that to us when we got the kitten. They were incompetent, rude, and the kitten had a cold and had to be taken to a vet, but she's fine now, she's wonderful, and for $50 for the spaying and first shots, I can't complain.

Yeah... LOL... I get tired of human society, too. :lol2:

The thing about PetsMart (or "PestMart" :D) is that the animals are already up to date on their shots, and many of them are already spayed or neutered. I'm optimistic about finding a suitable dog. We'll see... :)

Our local PetSmart, I think, has animals from the animal rescue league. Ask. You may be adopting an animal in need, there, too.

Hell, you could do a Ted Nugent - kill 'em and grill 'em - and it would be a more honorable end than what the Humane Society does.
