one of the angels
as i mentioned at PW

Oscar Peterson signed my parent's house (which has since been sold but the new owners know about the autographs).

the home was owned by a guy who had a pool hall smack dab in the middle of the KC jazz district. there was a pool room on the 3rd floor of the house and many famous people signed the wall near the light switch. i imagine they went to play in this private residence after hours
it behooves me to behold

Thanks for the news Peggy. I hadn't heard.

He was my favourite jazz pianist, but given that he was over 80 and had suffered a stroke, his death was probably a blessing.

He was a towering figure for jazz piano, and physically he was. . . pretty darn big as well. For anyone that doesn't know how great he was, it is worth the time to youtube Oscar Peterson. You will be amazed.

Rest in peace, Oscar. You were all class, all the time.

That's really cool. KC was a huge jazz centre during prohibition under the pretty much totally corrupt mayor Tom Pendergast - is that when the house was used? If I had a time machine, I think I'd probably go back and watch Count Basie and Jay McShann there (wearing a bullet-proof vest)
