If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
|
Ours is Lauren and I finish our shopping and go to lunch at somewhere madly expensive, preferably French, downtown. This year the shopping is all done and Janet can join us! It used to be the Maisonette now it is Jean Robert at Pigalls. They are putting on a s epcial seasonal lunch menu... http://jeanrobertgroup.com/pigalls/menu/lunch Tonight it will be carols and champagne, wrapping the last of the presents and early to bed. I hope. |

I'm going to the pub to enjoy a few drinks with some friends. Other than that, I might just walk around town and enjoy the festive atmosphere. |
| And how are you today? | |

That menu looks wonderful, Mik! I'm envious! Liam and I are just relaxing today - I'll do a bit of cleaning and prep since I'm hosting dinner tomorrow. We'll do all the Santa prep (milk, cookies, carrots for Rudolph, Santa's key on the door) and hopefully it's early to bed for Liam! |

Merry Christmas, Jamie! We'll probably be listening to a certain CD........... Our plans! It's over to my brother-in-laws for a party and then down church services in Punta Gorda where my older son will be playing his trumpet. He does this every Christmas at the United Methodist Church. And then to midnight Mass (my favorite part). |

![]() Shopping! I always shop for last minute stuff and have, on occasion, done all of my Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve. I just need a couple of things this year. We will go to midnight mass. The two oldest are playing flute and clarinet with the choir this year! Then right before bed we let the kids open one present. It is always new pajamas. The Christmas Eve Pajama thing has been a tradition since I was a kid. Tomorrow around 7:00 or 8:00 ish, the youngest will wake us up. Then they all go upstiars so I can video tape them coming down the stairs. Another tradition from my childhood. Merry Christmas Eve everyone! |

Liam gets to open a present as well - and of course it's pajamas. I think I may have gotten that one from you, Mark! of course, this year he's trying to convince me that he should open it NOW. Cause it is Christmas Eve, after all.

ZOOOOOM!
|
My dad and I are hitting up Mass around 5 or so. My eye doctor has this little girl who's really awesome on the violin, and they always play the music for the service. I didn't get any extra days off, and I have crap due on Wednesday so I'll be working on that as well sometime tonight. But not before I get some of my own stuff done. |

My mom plays the music at the 4:00 and 6:00 masses tonight. We go to the 6:00, and afterwards we take the long way home to look at Christmas lights. When we get home, we partake it one of my favorite parts of the season- the Christmas Eve pigout. All kinds of junk- cakes and cheesey breads from the bakery, petit fours, candies, appetizer-type foods. My brother and sister and I will open up our presents to each other, and then we'll put on a Christmas movie and fall into a food stupor.

We're having a bunch of folks over for a Christmas Eve service. We have a gazillion cookies courtesy of Chef Will, and Jesus birthday cake. The youngest in attendance (we have a three year old coming this year) gets to blow out the candles when we sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. Amy and Merry are reading from Luke. David and Will have been working on I Wonder as I Wander (Will-piano, David-cello) and Will's playing for me to sing O Holy Night. We sing carols with piano and guitar (Amy's been working on her guitars). Clean up, bed. I feel really blessed to have kids who are old enough that they don't wake up before dawn on Christmas morning  *edit, I also stole Sue's idea for fondu for tonight. Cheese and chocolate. mmm |

That sounds lovely, LW. Love to hear your description of the town. I'll hope for a light dusting of snow for you. Gotta spend part of today dismantling a stage, moving chairs, cleaning etc. in the aftermass of our Library's fundraiser; the annual reading of the Christmas Carol, which I help produce this year. It was such a great night (a sell out crowd!), lots of good people, homemade goodies, and hot apple cider. But it's a rented hall, and we got to clear our stuff out. Then drop off/exchange more goodies with a few close neighbours, then it's time for Christmas Eve. Light a fire, have our cheese fondue, and then we open a couple of presents. Kid gets slippers this year (usually do pj's as well), and I'll probably let him open the cd I got him, hubby get his bottle of Christmas rum, because it's only once a year. We put on Harry Belafonte for a few songs, a tradition my father-in-law started years ago, (for reasons no one remembers; my guess it was as an antidote to Christmas music ), and it's a wonderful way to remember him. Always open any presents from my German side of the family, and friends. Then we nibble on shortbread and listen to Dylan Thomas reciting A Child's Christmas in Wales. |

i'm playing for at least a couple hours at the Christmas eve BIG mass. It will be a zoo with a 45 minute prelude, lots of surprises and an endless list of pieces with different orchestrations, directions and opportunities to screw up. I haven't had much organ time lately so I'll just have to guess at most of the registrations which i hate. i'm going to iron my velvet skirt, shower and prehearse. My family and I are leaving tomorrow nite on the train for El Paso for more than a week.. after i serve Christmas dinner to my siblings and their families. I will miss my piano. |

My older boy turned 9 on the 22nd, so I had a family party for him. He made dinner for everyone (which, as you might imagine, was a lot of work for me). We went to the Pops last night. Santa came into the audience and interviewed my boys. They were on "TV" in Heinz Hall -- very funny. Today I'm fixing dinner for my family. I'm exhausted. Like you, AL, I have 3 things due, but not until Friday. Edit -- Merry Christmas, Deb, great to see you. |

It sounds like everyone is having a fantastic day! Unfortunately, I think our Christmas forecast is rain and more rain, with no snow in sight It was such awful weather this afternoon that I didn't go in to town. I stayed home, practiced, and watched classic Christmas stuff on tv. I'll just wait for another hour or so before going to the pub with everyone. Should be fun. Have fun with it, apple! Is good luck in order? If so, Good Luck! |
