Mine is to lose weight. Last year I quit smoking. I've been pigging out for a year!

What's your New Year's resolution?

I must have a prodigious quantity of mind; it takes me as much as a week, sometimes, to make it up.

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

I don't generally make New Year's resolutions, but for 2008, I have a few things on the agenda:

1. Quit smoking
2. Get back into my weightlifting regimen
3. Dive more!
4. Work harder on music.

The same one I've had for the past 6 years - to have no resolutions.
And how are you today?

Save up $25,000 by the end of 2008 so I can seriously start looking at some form of real estate purchase (condo or townhouse).

My credit card (college, car repairs, computer, etc) will finally be paid off on January 5th, and then it's time to save like crazy!

PS. Opt - funny comic! I have this desktop gadget on my Vista computer where I click on it and it pops up a random C&H comic strip. It's great, you would love it!

Good for you!!!!!!!

My resolution is to start paying more attention to my diet and to exercise more. Since I quit smoking a couple of years ago, I've put on some extra weight that I'm not happy with. Time to re-evaluate my exercising and eating habits.

I have two big resolutions:

- I lost about 13 pounds this year. My goal is to lose another 13 to 17.

- Also, I intend to write my Licentiate thesis in musicology (equal to your Master's) and do the corresponding exams, thus earning the right to call myself "lic. phil.".

And two smaller ones:

- I want to compose more chamber music. As fun as it is to write for larger forces, the prospects of performance are dim. I also hope to increase my output to more than the two or three pieces a year I currently write and become more fluent at writing longer pieces. This requires practice and that's what I'm going to do.

- Since the music shop in the neighbouring town went bankrupt, they had a large sale. I've always wanted a clarinet, so I thought, at 50% off, now would be the time, and bought one. I intend to have some basic fluency on it by the end of 2008.
