I wouldn't like it. Not everyone is a Christian and as a Christian I think that Christians complain too much. It's so hard to be a member of a religion that only 75% of my fellow citizens are a member of too! Everyone has to say Christmas to me! My children can't pray in school and I pay taxes! I want a baby Jesus on the courthouse lawn! Woe is me! :weeping:

In Britain, the head of the British Council of Muslims has supported the retention of the 'Christmas' celebration, the Nativity etc. in schools, as he says it is part of the British Christian tradition.

I don't think it's people taking offence that is the real problem, but the almost paranoid fear of causing offence by the people giving the greeting. It's very silly.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

Scrooge!

It's not that we're not allowed - I guess I should have been more clear - it's that it seems England isn't as insane about PC crap. I have heard a few "Happy Holidays" since I've been here, but I've heard far more "happy/merry christmas". In the US, it's the other way around, especially in stores.

I just get tired of PC sh!t, I guess, and being over here is a nice break from it.

Well like I said, the U.S. is a pretty big, pretty diverse place. You're probably just shopping in the wrong area.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Wait a minute, should we not be wishing everyone "Happy 4th of July" and "Happy Thanksgiving" on international internet forums? Not everyone on the boards is American -- and some might even wish we had never won the war to celebrate July 4th in the first place!

My, that's nice of him! Tell him I said the same!

Good point.

Being in England on 4th July is interesting, especially still being in school.

Oh, yes, I had to sit through school for 4 years on 4th July. My friends over here would get on me about our "stupid holiday", but all I ever said was "Well, yes, but who won the war???? Hmmm???" No comments after that! HA!
And how are you today?
