Jamie Lynn is a celebrity? Why, because her big sister is?

Two words: Lorna Luft

Crikey, am I going to have to google that too? I'm still working on the potassium chloride connection. :hat:

I do not think she was raped or anything was she? It takes two and all that.

OK M&Ms she is not responsible for her actions.

It's society's fault.

We should start a government program for her and others like her.

Oh wait...

Well, c'mon... programs for needy moms, stupid or not, aren't a bad idea.

Spears and her mother confirmed the pregnancy to OK! magazine, saying she was 12 weeks along and the father is Jamie Lynn's longtime boyfriend Casey Aldridge

Long time boyfriend??? When I hear that term, I think of someone who has been going together for years - at 16, it seem as though dating times are matters of days. Maybe I am wrong in this case (it wouldnt be the first time. :) )

Barry Manilow looks just like my step mother-in-law. I kid you not.

You know when you respect that someone has talent even if you hate what he does? For me, the two that come surging to mind are Billy Joel and Elliot Carter. Manilow does not make the cut. He's stupid and ugly and his songs smell bad. Who needs him? Feh.

Yeah.. Who needs Barry "the schnoz" Manilow, when we've got quality artists like John Tesh and Michael Bolton?

Yep. They don't get on the list with Billy Joel. Can we leave Billy Ray Cyrus with Bolten, Manilow and Tesh? How about Hammer? Put those guys together to make music and you get a steaming pile of cheese melted over the moldering corpse of taste. God gave them chutzpah and little else.

Absolutely, Dave. I couldn't agree more.

I see you are familiar with his oevre. Nothing like him, except for Neil Diamond at his worst. [Neil gets a reprieve from me for writing Cherry Cherry and Solitary Man. However, maybe Cyrus, Hammer and rest could cover I Am I Said. There's another record I wouldn't buy.]

Yeah, but Neil Diamond also gets the "Cubic Zirconia Award For Crap Lyrics," for the song, "I Am, I Said"

"I am, I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair"

WTF??? Why is the goddamned chair going to hear anything? No ears, no auditory canal, no tympanic membrane, no brain to process and interpret voice and language...

(and anyway, that fawkin' chair doesn't even speak English!) :lol2:

I have to confess that Neil Diamond is my guilty pleasure. Sweet Caroline and Song Sung Blue (or whatever it is) among the ones I like.

But I really like his last album, stripped down production and folky....

He's a hell of a performer.. I loved the song, "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon," that they used in "Pulp Fiction." Good song.

HEY! I saw Lorna Luft at Lancaster Festival one year. She was very entertaining and talented.

And Jamie Spears has a Nickelodeon show, Zoey 101.

And they both make more money than most of us.

Mik: I was speaking only of celebrity, not talent. Few know the name Lorna Luft, probably because, along with her career, she's been raising kids and leading a normal life rather than abusing cocaine like her older step-sister and marrying a homosexual who looks like a burn victim. (What is with that guy? You could use his face for a trampoline. Ringo could use it as a snare drum.)

less her agent's 10 percent. 16 and pregnant and $900,000 richer. I hope she sets the money aside for the child, but I fear that it will go up someone else's nose.

He's a hell of a performer.. I loved the song, "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon," that they used in "Pulp Fiction." Good song.

Solitary Man, Brother Love, Cherry Cherry, Sweet Caroline, Song Sung Blue, Sooliamon, Done Too Soon...

How the same genius that wrote those songs also put out Heartlight or Coming to America is as puzzling as if Michelangelo also did paint by numbers.
The dogma lives loudly within me.
