I've developed a severe rash at two of my incision sites. I've had it looked at and was told it's an allergic reaction to the dermabond glue used in surgery.

I was also told to use cortisone cream and take Benadryl. I am applying the cortisone cream twice daily and taking the Benadryl at night. I try to keep the areas dry and apply powder in the morning. The damned rash has not abated, but rather spread outward in a circular pattern.

Any other care suggestions??? :help:

HOLY CARP!!!
first of all, make sure its not an infection as opposed to a rash. in that case, cortisone would not be wise.

but assuming it is just a skin reaction, (why now so long after surgery?) these things are usually self limiting. nothing to do but what u r doing, antihistamines and patience.

I wondered that myself about why it's acting up now, rather than earlier. On Monday it will 6 weeks post-op.

Maybe I can PM you a picture of it?
