I'm a very happy and at peace person.

All my happiness is real.

This is an Internet forum.
We talk about stuff here.

Yes you are happy.

But you could be happier!

Just watch The Office on NBC!

TV is life masturbation.

Make your real life better and more interesting and you won't need to masturbate for 5 hours a day.

I buy the nieces and nephews books (instead of toys which they already have a ton of). Kids books cost maybe $10 or less usually and "a book is a gift you can open again and again." ^_^

Kenny, you sound quite silly when you lump all TV programs in with each other.

I've watched Shakespeare, Dickens, Chekhov, and other productions on TV, painting lessons, music documentaries, profiles of composers, etc. -- all on TV. I've learned a lot and have received many inspirations and ideas for my own interests and studies.

It's not all Jerry Springer.

What's wrong with TV???

Admittedly, I don't watch much, but when I do, I enjoy it. I don't understand the connection between being entertained and manual sexual release.
You can never get enough of what you don't need to make you happy.

On NPR?

Rather, don't you mean on your public radio station?

NPR produces a few news programs, Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Weekend Edition.

apple and Daniel, was the music you are talking about featured during one of these 3 NPR new programs, or was it broadcasted on your local pubic radio station at a time NOT during NPR's programs?

Public radio stations are not NPR.

thanks for the correction mr. smarty.. of course i meant the local station.

Oh holy crap. You have to find an online version of this song. I've never in my life heard anything as annoying and horrible. I looked it up after hearing it a couple of times just so I'd know what it was.

Not trying to be a smarty pants.
Let me explain.

Here in Los Angeles two stations carry NPR news programs, KPCC and KCRW.
Neither are classical music stations.
Our only classical music station, KUSC, does not carry any of the NPR news programs.

Hence my confusion and question about referring to a station broadcasting holiday choral music as "NPR", and why I thought it may be a feature story on an NPR news program. (which I could have looked up at NPR.org)

apple and Daniel I'm curious.
Is the station you call "NPR" a classical music station?
If so I can understand how people who live there could just refer to their classical station as NPR.

Eh, wiki has the wrong stuff.

It's an abbreviation for quod erat demonstrandum: that which was demonstrated.

EDIT
Oh and TV sucks.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

we're a relatively small metro Kenny, and KPR (Kansas Public Radio) is the only venue for classical on the waves. It carries NPR pieces and programs and offers local musicians an arena.

It's probably at least 70% NPR.

I meant no disrespect calling you 'mr. smarty'.. that was a good thing to point out.

I spend between $100 and $500. I'm gonna try to get my dad that poker game for Wii.

As for TV, I don't watch much TV. I watch Ghost Hunters on Sci-Fi's on Wednesday nights. I watch sports like NASCAR and football. (Last week's Eagles game was painful to watch. :hide: ) The news is too depressing. I turn it on to get an update on a top story like yesterday's rampage in Nebraska, but don't like watching it over and over again. In the past I would have been glued to the set as they all tried to dissect Hawkins' motives. Not all TV is bad though. I do like positive shows like Extreme Make Over: Home Edition.

Perhaps there are too many channels. In the UK I only watch the news live, and then record various programs that i want to watch, like Spooks, Ugly Betty, CSI... Apart from my selected programs I don't watch a lot.
Too much choice can be a bad thing.

TV can be good - heroes was good except the second series is sucking. Lost was quite fun untill i realised there was like 10 seconds of plot development per episode and they were never going to explain anything, Grey's anatomy was awesome for the first two seasons but now it's lost two of it's main characters it's missing something.

Hmm maybe TV sucks afterall.

lol yeah that's true about Lost, it's good to look at, but they NEVER explained anything! Oh, but think of Jack.. I frequently do...
I love Heroes, are we on the second already? I left half way through the first and have all that to watch! (so don't tell me anything!)

No problemo amiga.
It is an understable reaction to what I wrote considering your only source of NPR is a classical radio station.

:hugs:

I think that often our unfavorable reactions to each other here would go away if we had more info. It is just a hassle to explain everything.

Regional differences explained away this one.

It was a local Boston program on PBS. He's going to be performing with the BSO, and this was the public television version of going on Leno and Letterman to hype your new movie.

Here's a point of interest for you. My ex-wife's ex-boyfriend (if you can follow that) lives about a mile from him, and has shown me his house (I think it's his summer house, it's not too far from Tanglewood). Apparently, he makes it to the annual town picnic most years, and is a very congenial fellow.

He performed with the South Dakota Symphony when I lived there -- impossible to get tickets so I missed it. But I read that an elderly gentleman who is an amateur cellist got to meet him, and Yo Yo let the man play his cello! How cool is that!

Mark and I don't exchange gifts for Christmas. We stopped doing that years ago when the children were little. I've made practically every gift we're giving this year. The only presents we're buying are for the grandbabies (books and clothes). The kids will get gift certificates ($100 to Brian and $100 to Nathan and Denise). They will also each get an ornament and a batch of their favorite cookies. I also buy one of those Hess tank trucks for my dad.

But this doesn't mean we get off cheap. Baking cookies is very expensive. Needlework and framing are expensive as well. Then there's shipping. Plus, we usually have an open house the Sunday before Christmas. And then of course Christmas dinner.

We'll easily spend over $1200 without setting foot in a mall.
