According to my calendar, it's spelled "Hanukkah."

Thank you, one and all. In our family, it is a tradition to give to the kids and the parents get nothing. And I ask, that is different from the rest of the year how? This year I am giving my son a sunburst Fender Telecaster, maple neck. It made me cry when I played it at the store through the reissued '65 blackface Fender Deluxe Reverb (the perfect amplifier). I'd say he is the luckiest kid on the block, though he has to let me borrow it from time to time.

Well, the dredel song should really rock when played on that.

Happy Channukah and don't overdo the latkes or the MD.

Gevalt, David, I thought you were a lapsed Catholic goy. Funny, you don't look Jewish...

Happy Channukah!

IT: The least you can do is spell it right. :P As for how I look, at the moment I slouch in a chair, need a shave and a haircut, and look like the lunatic great composer I wish I were. Thanks for the kind wishes IT, Frank, Al. And my best wishes to the rest of the tribe on the forum.

Especially Larry. He is sephardic cherokee, as you all know. That is one hell of a tribe. You know it's Jewish because of the trail of tears. But don't let's talk about tears. It's a happy time. Larry, see you in temple. Don't forget to bring the gelt. It's your turn this year. Shalom.

To Dave and all the other MOT's here, best wishes for a joyous holiday.

And now, for a little music:

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Who cares about the spelling, at least get the date right.

It started last night.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

This is the song we learned in second grade:

:sing: O Hanukkah, O Hanukkah, come light the menorah.
Let's have a party; we'll all dance the horah.
Gather 'round the table, we'll give you a treat,
Shiny tops to play with and pancakes to eat.
And while we are playing,
The candles are burning low.

One for each night, they shed a sweet light,
To remind us of days long ago. (2x)

O Hanukkah, O Hanukkah, a festival of joy.
A holiday, a jolly day for every girl and boy.
Spin the whirling dreidel all week long.
Eat the sizzling latkes; sing the happy songs.
Now light them tonight then,
The flickering candles in a row.

Retell the wondrous story of God in all his glory,
And dance by the candles’ cheering glow. (2x)
:sing:
The dogma lives loudly within me.

Hey Frank, I'm sorry - didn't mean for that to sound snarky.... anyway, Merry Christmas to you, a bit early.

He is so funny. We always hear the Thanksgiving and Lunch Lady Songs during our drive to Mass. for Thanksgiving - it's become part of the tradition. I've never heard this one before. Clearly also a classic.
