If you had the chance to drink the elixer of life and live forever, would you? This question came up in class today, and I wondered what my good friends at TNCR would think about it. So, would you? |

There's something a bit evil about it. Anway, if you couldn't share it with everyone, what would be the point? |

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
|
No. Thet temptations of it - to live long enough to become wise enough to really help, is offset by watching all I loved wither and die, over and over. One would be truly, truly alone in the world. |

On second thought, if I could forever be at the age of about 32-36, with perfect health, yes I would. In a heartbeat.

Random FML: Today, I was fired by my boss in front of my coworkers. It would have been nice if I could have left the building before they started celebrating. FML The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D | |

Coincidently i was thinking last night that if we live in a multiverse, which we may well, then we might all be stuck living forever or atleast for a ridiculous length of time. Multiverse immortality sounds pretty awful until you realise you can exploit the source of your immortality to mould the universe around you to pretty much anything you want. So listen up - if you find yourself living for a seemingly impossible length of time look up quantum suicide and think about how you could use it to improve your quality of life. |

I voted "yes" with the understanding that there is no God, heaven, and that I would be in decent health the whole time. Edit: Plus if I ever got bored after a long while, I could always commit suicide. |

According to JK Rowling (cue for a lot of people here to start snoring) Nicholas Flamel took the Elixir for some 600 years and then stopped taking it, so I guess you could die when you wanted to. |

Why commit suicide and be alone? Be a PITA long enough, and there will be any number of people willing to help!

Frank I meant if you become lonely (like in Mik's post) then you could always force yourself to stop living...otherwise the elixir would by default keep you healthy and alive. |

If so then I dunno. I would want to live a couple hundred years, but certainly not forever. Although the Eloi (The Time Machine) were kinda hot.

If anyone is tempted by the thought of living forever, they ought to spend twenty minutes listening to 'The Magic of Christmas' by Celine Dion, which should give an idea of how you'll feel a couple of millenia after everyone else has died. |

Oh interesting! Did Rowling also reveal to the world Flamel's sexual orientation, too? No interjection in the English language could accurately describe my lack of interest in anything Rowling tries to communicate. |

Living forever would give me the opportunity to amass enough wealth, that I could build a cabin in the wilderness, in the middle of a couple hundred acres, and I wouldn't have to listen to anything but the sounds of owls, the wind through the trees, and maybe the occasional howling of a wolf. Sounds like a pretty nifty deal to me. |

Fair enough. I do care, truth be told. I wish she'd be sent to her own private island (I know, England is an island but we occasionally have to deal with the English) where she cannot contaminate the world with her crappy crap. Replace "lack of interest in" with "disrespect for." Seriously though, I'm not on the JK Rowling Hate Bandwagon, it's just fun to, well, poke fun. |
