HOLY CARP!!!
|
We had parent teacher interviews last week. 4 (of 12) parents commented on how I had the "perfect" job because I had my nights and weekends free. This weekend, I spent 3 hours marking papers, several hours planning lessons, and 2 hours making a chart for the kids to refer to when writing responses during independent reading. Last night, I spent 2 hours marking, and then created 3 math lessons and an assessment task. Tonight, I spent an hour skimming news articles to find 5 headlines that were "perfect" for a prediction activity. At 10:00, I thought "Hey, before I go to bed, I'll just make up that math quiz for Firday. After writing the quiz and checking the online curriculum documents to write a rubric, I'm just now (at 11:55) finished and headed to bed. And right now, I have a student teacher, so I'm not teaching 3 of the subjects I normally teach, which means I have LESS to do than normal. I want to know where these free nights and weekends are? (don't get me wrong - I love my job, and I realize that I have the flexibility of doing this stuff at home rather than sitting in a cube, but sheesh... perfect???) |

Well, it's kind of like a marriage: Love the one you're with, and learn to love the one you're with. With work: Love what you do, and then learn to love what you do. Hang in there... You have this extra work because you go the extra mile, and you are changing lives because of it.
