We had around 100 in my graduating class, but most of us have known each other since elementary school, so the ten-year reunion was a lot like a strange family reunion, or something. Funny how most of the "plain" girls ended up being nothing short of ravishing beauties, and so many of the cheerleaders and uber-popular girls ended up rather.... portly. By the same token, the guys who were big-time athletes ended up pretty much the same way, while a few of the longhaired hellraisers had mellowed considerably and some of them had lost a lot of their hair. It was all just very interesting... |

Frank, I found the same thing when I returned to my little town after being away for 8 years. I always said in highschool that the dorks would win in the end.

Hahahaha... I had friends in all of the cliques, but belonged to none of them. I wasn't really a jock, but excelled in cross-country running. I also played first chair trumpet in the band, maintained a 3.0gpa without really trying, and got stoned after school with my punker/skater pals. LOL No one could pigeonhole me or figure me out, and that was just fine with me.

Frank, you sounded like me, lol. I ran track and played golf, but would play basketball after school with "the brothers", if you know what I mean. I was president of the National Honor Society, yet I cut class. I knew the janitors and libraries (IMO, the most important people to know in high school), so that got me out of alot of trouble. I was in government, so I had basically a universal get-out-of-jail free card if caught walking the halls during class, etc. I'd speak spanish to my latino friends, and would hang out at various lunch tables...it was a fun time indeed.

Similar story here, Frank. I was invited to all the jock/popular girl parties, though never attended. I was VP of the student council (at our school, that was dork central). Ran sound for the vocal jazz group. Played clarinet and oboe in the concert band. Had a very high academic average without really trying. Ran with the band geeks, the garage band guys, and hung out at the tracks with the stoners at breaks (though didn't partake myself at that point). My best friend was THE jock - the one everyone wanted. One of my good friends was goth, and another was a very strict no-dancing-no-card-playing-Baptist. If there was something happening in the school, I usually knew about it, because I hung out with someone from every social circle. |

Sounds like all three of us got a head-start on being well-rounded individuals. (Which reminds me: I need to start exercising more, or I really WILL be "well rounded.")
