Let me premise this by saying I haven't seen his latest movie, Sicko, and I have health insurance through my employer. That being said... Michael Moore is full of sh1t! I've been lucky enough to be very healthy. I rarely go to the docs, but let me tell you of my two recent trips to the doctors. I have Kaiser Permanente HMO health insurance through my employer. 1st trip: About 8 months ago, I had a cyst on my head that I needed to get checked out and removed. I called up Kaiser, they set up an appt with my primary care physician, who (after going in for diagnosis) then referred me to a general surgery branch, I had an appt set for a surgery consultation with the surgeon about a week later. After he and I chatted, we scheduled to have the 30-min procedure done in about a month (the doc was going on winter vacation). Anyway, since it wasn't a critical issue, the month wasn't a problem, I was in and out and healed quickly. Done and done. Only had to pay a couple copays. 2nd trip: I have been having some right knee pain while running lately, and took a week off, and tried running last night again and the pain was still there, so I went in for a doc's appt to get it checked out. So this morning I called up, got an appointment for 1:40pm *today*, went in just now, and was literally out by 2:08pm including diagnosis, x-rays, analysis, and instructions. I only paid 15 bucks for the copay. Now...I'm not familiar with the health care industry, the problems others are having...but holy moley have my health issues been taken care of so quickly, so effectively, and with only a couple minimal copayments!! I love our system!

I Owe It All To John D'Oh

Damn, and I thought this thread was going to be about Michael Moore's latest lower GI x-ray. |

Cheers

One weakness of Moore's propensity to argue through anecdote is it leaves him exposed to refutation by anecdote. |
| In my defense, I was left unsupervised. | |

You mean my experience isn't a perfect sample of what all American's go through? ![]() I'm fully aware of the "anecdotalness" of my experience. |

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
|
That would be "anecdoticity" and would make you an anecdotist, if not an anecdotard. |
| The dogma lives loudly within me. | |
