HOLY CARP!!!

I meant my comment as a joke, but I actually seem to recall that water scarcity in urban areas of SoCal is a problem that is likely to get worse in the future, and stricter conservation measures are on the horizon. |

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool. I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss! - Cecil Lewis | |

Which is why I ran out and got my RO unit now. I'm learning from my republican friends here to look out for myself. Screw the planet.

Someone gave us waterford as a wedding present. Fortunately it came with a gift receipt. |

My goodness. I had not considered that but maybe I should. BTW snip "A guy told me reverse osmosis units waste a lot of water. Is that true?" It depends on what you mean by waste. A home RO unit uses water to clean itself and wash away impurities. It’s like a lot of other water-using appliances. We use water to wash clothes, to wash dishes, to wash cars, to flush toilets. A reverse osmosis unit uses more water in its operation than you actually consume, but it doesn’t use enough that you’ll notice it on your water bill. It uses water only while it’s filling its storage tank. When the tank is full, the whole unit shuts down and no water runs to drain. In terms of expense, it’s like a couple or three extra toilet flushes a day. |

Would that be the government mandated 1.5 gallon flush or the flush that actually works each and every time? |

Your from Brooklyn. I understand your use of plastic cups completely. You're in England a good deal--what kind of silverware and china and stemware do you find in most country houses? City houses? And why the difference? |
