I've enjoyed a number of the technical & other improvements of TNCR over PW, but I gotta ask: 1) Where's the spell check feature? I could easily end up misspelling key words like "ferell cat" and "Saddam Hussein"...and 2) every time I use the search feature, it's like I've stepped thru some time portal in a phone booth and end up in Google Space. What's that all about? |

1) this board's spell check feature is provided by Quirt, pro bono. It is corrective rather than preventative, but you will learn better that way anyway. 2) The search feature is difficult to access but it works without fail. First, determine the exact phrase for which you would like to search. Then, make a post about that phrase. If it has been used before, someone will post a link to the old post in which it appeared. This is usually accompanied by an "pnwed", which in TNCR lingo means "here are your search results". |

Horace - that is the funniest thing I've read today, causing me to have (a cheap) Scotch emit from my nostrils - an image best imagined, rather than shown. The sad thing is that it is correct. |

Water alone burns a bit because it's not isotonic - i cannot imagine what (cheap)scotch feels like up there. Sorry about that George! |

I am the sort of person that remembers many useless facts about various things. I guess when I hear bits of trivia about things, I don't forget. I'm told I get it from my great grandmother, who always was telling people little tidbits of information on a wide variety of topics. I often surprise people by remembering the exact date something happened by thinking of other things that happened at the same time. For example, my mother was recently wondering when the last time the _________'s came for dinner. I replied "November 7,2004." "How do you remember that?" "It was the same day as the Arrested Development Season Two Premiere. I tried to tape it, but it didn't work, because the whole night was pushed back 39 minutes because of a football game" "How do you remember THAT?" or "Do you remember when we went to the restaurant "Le Spaghett" "June 30, 2004. It was the same day you got your new car. We had the Pirates of the Caribbean DVD with us to test out the built in DVD player" "How do you remember THAT?"(I get that a lot.) It's the same memory of little details that often allows me to remember when a thread was posted. |

riley... Coventry City last won the FA Cup in what year? No? I'll throw it open. Coventry City last won the FA Cup in what year? No? Well, I'm not surprised you didn't get that. It was in fact a trick question. Coventry City have never won the FA Cup. |

I apologize Horace. I've been slow to pick up on your absolute genius. Carp .. that's one of the best things posted this week. I truly appreciate not having the search function here. It's like we're all drunk babbling at a party & the next day we wake up remembering squat, having again to be polite with each other til Happy Hour rolls around when we get plastered, forgetful & obnoxious all over again. |
