Voices 31 to be exact.

The kind people at eBay said to me:

"You know, Spike, you spend so d*mn much money here, you're the kinda guy we need to figure out how to keep around, so why don't you come out to San Jose and chat with us for two days?"

Went out, drank the eBay Kool Aid, & chatted with Meg & Uncle Rob and the gang, came home and found myself inundated with online focus group participation requests.

Being the kind of chat man that I am, the requests have become less frequent lately, to the point that I'm now on the "will call" list.

They sincerely want to know how to keep you addicted to the place and it seems to be working: eBay transactions now account for a significant amount of GDP growth, and if it was its own country it would be a G8 Participant.

Nice people, though.

Any Voices people here at TNCR?

Any questions about eBay/ eBay Voices?

Is it possible to make a living with an eBay business and how do you do it? I have been going to eBay for a couple years and it seemed like to me that today there are a lot more items for sale and at lower price points. How do you find something to sell and how do you make sure people see it?

I think that in order to answer a question as complex as this one we need to get Turandot over here to bestow his wisdom upon us.

Geez, once your on this guy's hit list : :fallenhalo:

Well, here goes....

1) eBay is in fact a true cult, much like Scientology, complete with similar "Hotel California" Rules: once you check in, you can never check out 'cause you done drank the Kool Aid, you fool;

2) it's divided into two campuses;

3) the computer monitoring center consists of 8 plasma screen-sized monitors where 5 computer geeks sit there watching things like eBay transaction traffic ( they pointed to a percipitious drop in traffic saying it was the "American Idol" impact);'

5) that sweet, Santa Claus-like old Queer "Uncle Rob" (not-that-there's-anything-wrong-with-that) DOES wears a dress (OT, that you?) when he does his eBay simulcasts; and

5) eBay is designed to protect sellers, not buyers.

PS: I'm open to more questions, STD, if you tell me how your date with that Hotie was last nite, and specifically why we were banned

I was in the same Voices group as Power Seller "Adam," a 28 year old from NYC who specializes in selling celebrity posters to young, pubescent idiots.

He was making about $2.5 million a year selling crap to fools.

No/low overhead costs; and the right target market that has a thirst for your wares.

I cannot over emphasize keeping your investment and your transaction costs low.

That's the key.

Selling ice cubes to Eskimos, like young Adam does, helps.

You can also 'arb' items if you find a source of product for cheap & resell it.

And more than a few people have found a nice niche in selling small collectibles.
