This was real life for me a couple of years back. I had the chance to bid on having Henry Fogel who is the former general manager of the Chicago Symphony and his wife prepare a meal for me and 7 other guests in my home. One of the other guests would be Daniel Barenboim. I bid $2,500 - but lost.... It went for $8,500.

Tell you what -- MS and I will cook dinner for you and 7 others for $2500*. We are both really good cooks, and excellent conversationalists.

*Plus travel and actual expenses.
The dogma lives loudly within me.

I had dinner with the Maestro and Mrs Barenboim, Waltraud Meier, Rene Pape, and Thomas Moser. It was the Maestro's treat, after a performance of Fidelio in Chicago. He served champagne from appetizer through dessert. My kind of guy. He also bowed and kissed my hand....mmm :P
