I've been watching my weight since December and for the last two months, I've wanted a piece of homemade cake so badly it's been torture. Today I caved. Why? Riley's thread with picture after picture of delicious-looking food!!!! I figure it will take me until Friday or Saturday to eat the whole cake. Is there anyone here that can talk me out of it? |

Does 1/4 a cake count as a slice?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that carrot cake prolonged the life of laboratory animals. (Or maybe it was interferon. One of the two.) |

Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool. I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss! - Cecil Lewis | |

Plays, darling, eat as much of the cake as you want. Trust me, I've been slowly getting in shape over the last couple months as well, and it's ok to have McDonalds, or pizza, or cake, or whatever you want every now and then! Reward yourself for your good behavior over the last couple months.

I love cream cheese icing. The only thing better than a carrot cake with cream cheese icing, is a banana cake with cream cheese icing. |

There is a local bakery that makes a banana cake with real whipped cream frossting that I'd kill for. I'm so frikking fat right now! ![]() When I was young I could eat tons of whatever I wanted and never gained a pound. ![]() I thought this would never happen to me.

I think diets are overrated. As long as you stay sufficiently active, you can eat most things and still be healthy. |

Yes. And I licked all of it off the plastic blade thingy in the cuisinart. The cake is in the refrigerator right now so that frosting can harden a little. |

You are correct of course. But this assumes everyone is of a normal size. I am 30 pounds slimmer than this time last year, but still have another 20 to go. |
