What are some important lessons you've learned?

I think as we grow, we start to see the world for what it is - instead of what we want it to be.

I think an important fact that many people take a while to learn is that in this world, you really must go out and do things yourself. There is no providence guiding events to help you succeed - it is based on opportunity and your own hand in the chain of events.

Self-discipline is one of the commanding attributes needed in order to achieve your goals. You can wait for fate to bring you what is due, or you can curtail any shortcomings due to fate and go out and make it happen yourself.

You'll likely hear intelligent comments from many here. Many are quite articulate and can share much wisdom gained from their experiences.

The only thing I'll contribute is:
If there's time to lean, there's time to clean.
This has made me feel good of myself mentally and physically, time & time again.

Always tell the truth.
Treat everybody with respect - it is always amazing to me how paths cross several times in a lifetime.
So live your life and live it well.
There's not much left of me to tell.
I just got back up each time I fell.

You can learn something from everybody, with some people it just might take a little longer. ^_^

Keep money for bills in a seperate account so that you don't spend it accidentally.

Seriously? Okay..... Here goes nothing:
(Taken from my MySpace profile)

I live everyday as though it's my last. There are no guarantees. I've had a full, adventurous, and colorful life, so far, and I've done my best to follow my conscience. This life has been a refining crucible, and each day is full of new learning.

If my death came tomorrow, I would stare it full in the face and say, "Well what the hell took you so long? My bags are packed. I have no regrets. Let's GO! On to the next world, the next adventure, the next school!" The way I see it, a good life deserves a good death.

I like to laugh, don't care for rude, self-absorbed, ignorant people, don't generally put up with a lot of conflict or stress in my relationships, and am unafraid of being open and honest. I am a stalwart friend and I shoot from the hip with people, while at the same time, doing my best to preserve their dignity, feelings, and honor, just as I preserve and value my own.

If you can do something today, don't put it off until tomorrow. Because eventually 'tomorrow' will come and it will be too late.

Never hesitate to pay someone a sincere compliment. For most people, it will be the highlight of their day.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!
