Fair enough, but there are still plenty of things that are hurtful to families, Dewey, that you don't seem as disposed to criticize.
It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010.

Start a thread about 'em, maybe I'll criticize 'em. You might be surprised. ^_^

Sure, there are very bad situations that no woman wants to take a part in.

But you cannot deny that there are also some who actually kind of like the work - most likely the higher class "working women" who don't have to work the corners, but higher establishments.

It is obvious what issues women have in such cases, but for men who have gone, isn't there an empty feeling? I can imagine that emotionally it is not very satisfying, just physically - but who knows.

Mmmmmmm, pie!
For the record, I voted no. It is a reprehensible thing. I have never, and will never, go to a prostitute.

While there certainly are other things that are hurtful to women and to their families, I can't think of very many so degrading, so utterly damaging to a woman's emotional and mental health than to allow herself to be degraded and used like that. I'm sure you can find plenty of prostitutes who will smile and swear up and down it doesn't bother them, they like the money, no big deal, just another job. But when they're all alone with nothing but their own thoughts, no one looking, I think most of them hate themselves for it, and cry desperately to be rid of the memories, etc. I think it destroys the woman eventually, hardening their hearts and their minds being the only way they can cope with it.

But that's my assumption, I've never known one to ask.
