I didn't watch it but I heard a lot of excerpts on NPR. It was clear that Hillary figured she could not attack Obama, and even spoke supportingly of him a bit. I wonder how that will change if the next poll shows him ahead. Richardson sounded petty taking swipes at Edwards' hair. jf |

It is petty to take swipes at Edwards' hair. And desparate, as Richardson is. That issue should have been left right where it was - on YouTube. It would have come up in the primaries as a humnorous attack ad, but certainly does not belong in a debate. I think the Democrats may have killed themselves by trying to ax Joe Lieberman. Anyone else they put up (beside maybe McCaffrey) will be at least suspect on national security. A lot of Americans may want our troops home, but they also do not want more attacks on US soil or citizens. |

Mik, I don't think your prediction holds until the Republicans come up with a viable candidate. jf |

I don't know who the GOP could come up with who is NOT better than any of the current Democrat slate in that respect, Jack. |

Unfortunately for you, fully two-thirds of America disagrees with you. But maybe if you keep saying "I think they can, I think they can, I think they can ..." |

If you want to say that your ass is roughly equivalent to two-thirds of America, I'm not in a position to disagree with you. However, the fact that roughly two-thirds of America disagrees with El Presidente's conduct of the war is beyond doubt. |

My guess is that for the Dems--only Hillary has a clear shot at winning in the general election--Obama is making a good case for himself in the general election in either '12 of '16. McCain might have a good chance for the GOP is he could be nominated--which is pretty doubtful. Thompson (whom I like best) is too little too late. So it's either Romney or Giuliani. I think Giuliani could beat Hillary, I'm not sure about Romney. |

Keep up, Quirt. My comments on the subject were: 'I think the Democrats may have killed themselves by trying to ax Joe Lieberman. Anyone else they put up (beside maybe McCaffrey) will be at least suspect on national security. A lot of Americans may want our troops home, but they also do not want more attacks on US soil or citizens. ' And that is what I said the entire crop of potential Republicans beat the entire crop of Dems on. Not conduct of the war. National security. |

Excuse me, but you're the one not keeping up. Two-thirds of America disagrees with the conduct of the war. And please don't tell me that the war is a different subject than national security, because El Presidente has told us that they are inextricably linked. And you and the conservative cabal have told us repeatedly that they are one and the same. |

More bullsh!t. When losing you simply twist the argument. Fine in court, tired here. Have a nice day, Quirt. |

Ah, so now you are going on the record and saying that the war in Iraq is NOT the same as national security? Seems to me that you are the one bobbing and weaving here. |

I saw poll numbers too - something like 67% want a timetable for withdrawal and 54% think congress should set troop levels. This at a time when Petraeus shows there are some hopeful signs at the grassroots level that a tide is turning against the insurgency. But we don't hear much about that on the nightly news. Most of the time I think the majority of Americans are idiots. This is one of those times. |
