Me too. State Troopers are by and large a highly professional bunch, and no one is going to shoot an illegal for trying to get away. Otherwise we'd be stacking them up at the border daily.

Personally, I believe it's such a basic issue that it should be within the rights of any law enforcement officer to look into. Not doing so only goes down the same suicidal path of the "wall of separation" between the FBI and CIA that we heard so much about in the past few years. If a township constable happens to be on the scene when a murder takes place, should he not apprehend the murderer just because the crime is a matter of state jurisdiction?

Sheriffs in Ohio - Butler and Warren Counties in particular (I live in Warren) are getting MUCH more aggressive about enforcing these laws. To prevent that - if we really do want to get a handle on the problem - is exceptionally counter-productive.
