The general umbrella of my social views probably stems from my religious foundations, sure. But when it comes to specific issues, I wont cite religion as evidence for or against gay marriage. It's just not a fair playing field to do so. It's like going to court and saying you are going to examine a witness on the stand to prove your innocence, but the only problem is that the witness is your "invisible friend"!

But if you happen to agree with what your invisible friend in every regard, even though you don't quote him directly, then isn't it the same thing?

No, it's not.

There's a difference between agreeing with him and getting my ideas from him.

If you agree with him on everything, and he doesn't get his ideas from you, it follows that you're getting all your ideas from him. Well, either that or there's this enormous cosmic coincidence which means that you and he think as one, which is pretty unlikely.

If someone says 'I just happen to agree with George W Bush on absolutely everything, but I'm my own man', wouldn't you be more than a little skeptical?
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

Cut Daniel some slack, man... :lol2:

Nope. He chose to start smoking. Quitting (hope it's going well for all, btw) doesn't give people a reason to be bitchy. It's not an excuse.
And how are you today?

Um, yeah. Saying that the only benefit to the legal recognition of their relationships is to to keep them from spreading their disease- is not a mode of communication I like, Kenny didn't like it, and many people didn't like it

Like it or not--it's just a pragmatic point in the discussion of legalization of homosexual marriage. Similar to the idea giving teenagers condoms--so they don't get pregnant. Both a pragmatic solution to society's ills. The difference is that the first isn't a Politically Correct idea, the second is.

Daniel--don't let your Politically Correct religion sway your thinking.

If I'm not citing my invisible friend in the duration of the debate, and I give other evidence, reasoning, rationale, etc...then why even bring up the invisible friend?

There also might be some hobo on the street who agrees with all my viewpoints as well, you wouldn't bring him up because he isn't part of the debate.

You're exactly right. I've been, for the most part, levelheaded and easygoing. If I'm bitchy sometimes, it's just because I'm a curmudgeon. LOL
