Are we discussing negatives too? I dont believe that was offered as a talking point in the hetero and homo threads. I see the same benefits that homosexual marriages may bring, brought also by polygamous marriage. BTW, why are there so many freaking words for polygamy? Polyamory? Polyandry? Polygyny? Luckius Manimus? |

I'm curious about negatives, because a lot of people don't seem to want to talk about morals when such morals get in the way of total equality. Yet, there doesn't seem to be much of a stir to legalize polygamy as a further step in the achievement of total equality. |

MY QUOTE was Yeats from his poem "A Second Coming". I don't know where your damn woodcut came from. TURNING and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert A shape with lion body and the head of a man, A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again; but now I know That twenty centuries of stony sleep Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born? URNING and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity. Hey, want to know a surprising fact? If I had to choose, I would legalize polygamy before I legalized gay marriage. Not that it's up to me, though...

Mmmmmmm, pie!

I've thought about this a few times, wondering what it would be like to have a whole bunch of women I could pick through for a little "variety", or pick several at once if I was in a particularly randy mood. But I always come to the same conclusion - any woman that would even consider agreeing to it would be so weak minded, weak willed, and so lacking in all other areas of personality, maturity, and intelligence that I wouldn't want her. |

Hmmm. How disappointing that must be for you. But OTOH, I could see considerable advantages to only having half a husband at times... Half the smelly socks to launder, cooking every other day, only getting half of any snit/ tantrum. Could be good.   He's going to kill me! :ph43r: |

Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism. We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. | |

It's not the same as legalising gay marriage, though. Every gay couple has two consenting people. Polygamist families - well, the women don't all consent. Some do, but not all. |
| And how are you today? | |

I was single until I was 35. It wasn't exactly polygamy, but it encompassed the best aspects of it.
