So how about that poll: Who's most to blame for the kids' actions?

• The kids
• The parents
• The school
• Other

IMO, it's the kids. They get all the blame for their own actions. The parents, the schools, etc, should try to disclipine the kids, but ultimately the kids are the ones who need to change their behavior.

(Putting the blame on the parents/school only reinforces the idea that the kids can do whatever they want without consequences)

Of course it's the kids. They are old enough to know what they are doing so they should take responsibility for the consequences that befall their actions.

I agree, the kids are responsible.

But the parents are, too, if one of the parents was using her position of authority as principal to protect them from consequences.

That's part of the problem, MP. So the kid says: "OK, I do know the consequences -- and I'm choosing to face them."

That's the wrong attitude. Kids (especially teenagers) often do not know how wrong their behavor is. They should not be commended for choosing to face the consequences that befall their actions -- they should be changing their actions. Isn't that the point of the punishment?

Perhaps THAT parent was, but i would generalise and say they all were.

It's the girls fault. I'm guessing most of the parents didn't even know about the myspace business.

I'm not commending them for facing the consequences of their actions, i'm saying they should be aware and be willing to face them if they are going to continue with their un-ruley behaviour.

I know you are not commending them.

But that is a defiant attitude that I've heard from some teenagers in the past, and it's a problem. And that problem is the CHILD'S problem and fault -- not his parents to solve for him. The parents can only do so much.

I think this should become TNCR's official smiley. :D :P

Isaac, John? Is there anyway we can get it added to the list of smiley options?

Janet still has her Chargerette outfit with the white Gogo boots.
Too bad I don't have any football uniforms left. We could play quarterback and cheerleader.
