HOLY CARP!!!
|
I got a gift certificate to OmahaSteaks.com for Christmas, and my order arrived today. In a big custom embossed styrofoam trunk packed with dry ice, what fun! They're actually cheaper than most of the butcher shops around here, though more expensive than the supermarkets. But the beef looks pretty good from what I can tell through the vacuum packaging. Anybody ever ordered from there or any other online steak shop? |

I have not...but I sure would be interested in knowing what you think once you've eaten some. I have thought about giving it a try. |

They are very good! The only problem is that their telemarketers will pester the sh*t out of you! But yeah, the steak is AWESOME! |

The filet mignon is fantastic - so tender you can cut it with a fork. Buts as Frank pointed out - they won't stop bugging you. Don't give 'em your phone number! |

Because they have your phone number. Make sure you are on the don't-call list nationally. Omaha Steaks are a great product but they are VERY aggressive about selling more. |

Yup. The product is great, the marketing tactics are annoying. |

Well, I tried my steak tonight. As a matter of full disclosure I should warn you that I pan fried it, hope that's not too sacrilegeous. Cooked it medium rare and luckily it actually came out that way. Very tender, moderately to very flavorful (not the best I've had but better than supermarket fare). For the price I think I'll order from them again even without the gift certificate. I also went online and tried to delete my phone number, but it's a required field. But then I had a revelation that of the 10 billion possible phone numbers, only one of them is mine, so if I input a random series of digits, chances are that it won't be mine. Only had to try 4 times before a random sequence wasn't mine! Awesome! |

They are now starting a chain of shops in various cities. Mostly, you'll find them in those new high end "Town Center" or "Trade Center" plazas. Then you can hace your steaks and anonymity too. |
| The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it. | |
