I saw that movie over the weekend. I thought it was interesting. What was your reaction? How accurate do you think it is, generally? |
| In my defense, I was left unsupervised. | |

I have always been amazed/impressed/disgusted with how Fleet Street was able to deflect the public's initial fury against the paparazzi and the tabloids towards the Royal Family instead. The headline "Show Us You Care!" became a kind of rallying cry. I wonder to what extent the emotional outpouring of grief after Diana's death, like the interest in her whilst she was alive, was generated by the media. The one-year anniversary of her death was scarcely noted by anyone. |

It was a confusion of ideas between him and one of the lions he was hunting in Kenya that had caused A. B. Spottsworth to make the obituary column. He thought the lion was dead, and the lion thought it wasn't. - P.G. Wodehouse | |

I was there. It seemed quite subdued. I got the impression the Brits had moved on. |

Her life was very much celebrated on her anniversary. I remember watching a remembrance mass for her that was broadcast on the BBC. And The Daily Mail certainly didn't let her go unforgotten. They celebrate her anniversary every year. x |

I wasn't including media remembrances... of course, on both sides of the pond we had all sorts of tributes and TV specials on the one-year anniversary, but they were really milking the ratings cow that was Dianamania once again. When I walked by Kensington Palace, there were bouquets of flowers and photos and letters up against the gates, but absolutely nothing like what there was a year earlier. |
