HOLY CARP!!!

Copying Mozart takes a long time! I got 16 measures in an hour and a half! But it's kind of interesting, because I notice things this way that maybe I wouldn't otherwise notice -- things like chromaticism, voice-leading, symmetry, etc. (and maybe it took so long because I'm trying to understand these things as I'm writing.) (Plus, I never realized how good my music handwriting could be when I actually know what I'm doing! ) |

Not that I would know, but it's definitely one of the best way not only to learn the intricacies of notation, but also what makes up some of the best musical scores. You should watching Copying Beethoven...just came out in theaters a couple weeks ago. |
