Here's a place where you can tell us what you got this year!

Improv gave me the only thing I asked for: a black iPod nano and a thingy so I can play it in my car. I am thrilled!

Mom gave me an assortment of jigsaw puzzles (I am kind of addicted to them) and a healthy gift card to my favorite store, Talbot's.

to be updated...the day hasn't really started, as we are expecting family here in about 90 minutes.

Santa gave me an organic cotton futon mattress- now I have two- not bad at least until it flattens to about the thickness of a pancake and a king size down comforter (for a double bed).

So for my 40 degree winter nights for the next three months I'll be warm. :excited:

I got clothes, CDs. the usual stuff. I'm hard to buy for because if I want something I go get it. But my girls cleaned up!

Janet had a red-box themed Christmas.. all Talbot's. She got a blazer, blouse, jewelry to match, two cashmere sweaters, a turtleneck sweater and a velveteen almost nehru jacket, plus a gift certificate for about the same quantity. She has worked very hard this year at her new job, is tops in sales in her company and has kep the household running whilke I have been in Chicago two months longer than I anticipated. She deserves it and would probably never do it for herself.

Lauren got a dress form for jewelry and for designing clothes, an iPod jukebox thing (sounds great!), a Tiffany's necklace she loves, clothes, gift cards, etc.

We've been listening to our ne show tunes CDs (Avenue Q particularly). It is a blissful morning.

I didn't think Avenue Q was kid-friendly.

It's a bit dicey in some places, but overall better than MTV I think. She loves Rent too, which is also questionable, but we've had long conversations about some of the themes and the time it was written in, i.e. when HIV infection was still an automatic death sentence.

It is awfully hard to keep a theatre kid like her away from these things, and they are in the context of truly artistic work. I can't wait to see Avenue Q! I listened to an NPR segment with one of the writers and thought the concept brilliant.

PJs,
An Alliance Hoodie from Hot Topic w00t!,
New DVD player.

The best presents were the smiles and shrieks of my daughters as they opened and discovered their gifts.

One of my oldest daughter's gifts is also something I will have hours of fun playing!

Posted Image Posted Image

This guitar/amp combo SHREDS!!! ;)

I thought she was going to explode when she saw it! :)

We got the Burning Crusade Expansion pre-ordered and they gave us an empty box with the graphics on it that looks identical to the release packaging except it says "Pre-Release Order" "Game Not Included" in a stripe across the top. I strategically place a strip of duct tape around the words. I then took the cardboard, CDs and User Manual from the original release and put them in the empty box. I gave it to my middle daughter and she was literally screaming and looking amazed that somehow Santa had gotten his mitts on the real deal. We were laughing so hard! I told her to remove the duct tape which she never even saw. She was a good sport about it and laughed with us.

Our youngest got her first snowboard (toy version) and was so wanting to try it out, she put on her coat and snow-pants, (no snow on the ground at all) and tried to snowboard down our hill on the frost that was still on the ground. It didn't work real good so now she is wishing for snow.

A great morning! We have a nice Christmas Ham just waiting to go into the oven. Yummy!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

From David, I got Wii and a pair of diamond earrings and a new metronome.

From Will, I got some awesome goodies which he went to a LOT of trouble to amass in one basket...including a couple of Matterhorns from Andres, only Apple will know what that means. For the rest of you, it means...eat your heart out

From Amy...a radical set of pink rhinestone dog-tags to go with my pink Army sweatshirt. You'd have to know me well to understand how perfect a gift that is!

From Merry- my very own Build-a-Bear dressed up like Tinkerbell...again...my kids know what wacky things make me giggle.

And the best present of all, from my husband, an old picture of my Daddy, who died in 1982, beautifully matted and framed aside this poem:

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you.
You did not go alone,
for part of us went with you
the day God called you home.

You left us peaceful memories.
Your love is still our guide.
And though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the Chain will link again.

It really is beautiful. Tears just shot out of my eyes when I saw it was a picture of Daddy, then when I read the poem, I kinda just sat there and bawled for a while. It's not a sad thing for me...I know where he is and I know we'll be together again. It's the missing him for the time being that is difficult, but that loneliness is tempered by our shared faith. That was the beauty of the gift for me. To celebrate the birth, life and resurrection of the savior that made seeing my dad again a matter of comfort and confidence in my life here and now, and to have this wonderfully handsome picture of Daddy to remind me of all I have to look forward to one fine day. What an amazing gift.

I want children!! :weeping:

At church this morning, there were little children everywhere and i had to look after a few of them and keep them enetertained. I love children so much!! :weeping: (I also got to be the Eucharistic minister who serves the Ciborium to the congregation. On Christmas morning, that is quite an honour to be given at only 18. It's normally the old timers who get that position! )

I had a nice Christmas. We had family over for dinner - aunts, ucles, cousin, brother and his girlfriend.

I got a 6 mp digital camera - Canon Power Shot A540, a jacket from Cabellas, a sweater, slippers, a scarf and earrings from India (my brother's girlfriend is a flight attendant for Delta and she went to Bombay/Mumbai recently) and money.

The food was wonderful. We had turkey (my mom's step-sister and husband brought that - she's Jewish so she doesn't eat ham), ham, potatoes, and all sorts of "nibblies'. I had to leave to pick a friend up for the meeting I was chairing. It is a speaker meeting and I asked if anyone would mind if we made it a discussion as there was only 7 of us there. The holiday, weather and football game (Eagles won! 23-7 :singdance: ) kept people away. One of the guys there said I should share my story as it is my 6 month anniversary and all. So I did. I did the best I could on the fly, but I did a decent job.

I hope everyone had a great holiday.

Best gift was getting to come home for Christmas!!

My mom always knows just what to get and something I never quite expect. This is a strange one but thrilled me because I've wanted one for quite awhile and she found it....

a salad shooter - (I know bizarre taste)

I also got a game and tea cup.

Got my mom a replica of the Cape Henry lighthouse for her seaside guest room :)
plus a few other items.

We got my dad some wine gagdets and a couple of bottles of wine from Virginia.

Of course the boys got clothes, books and some CDs but the two youngest boys seem to be very happy with Santa this year.

"10" got a kit to build two skate boards and a ramp and of course a new helmet to go with that.

"12" got a karoake machine that he can also plug in a guitar and/or keyboard to and record himself playing or singing.

The best treat from that was a friend's 4 year old daughter singing Rudolph acapello (sp?) for us all after dinner with it and not missing beat, even including all the little asides. Should have pushed in the record button for that one

CathyS,

That sounds wonderful. Sometimes the best gifts aren't material things.

My birthday was the 16th and I went to an AA meeting. My grandmother asked if I got any gifts from friends at the meeting. I did get some from a few close friends. The best gift didn't come from anyone in the rooms, it came from my Higher Power. Sobriety is the best gift I could get for my birthday and Christmas.
