HOLY CARP!!!
|
Just an update... cross posted from Piano World: So... poor 'ol Ax was stuck in a Chicago snow storm (back on Dec. 1st) ... Sincere thanks to Nemerian for taking me in from the snow storm. I was very glad to have a chance to (1) meet a very gracious fellow PW forumite and his family in Chicago, and (2) closely admire the many rather unique constructional features of Fazioli F-228 of the 198x vintage. Numerian even pulled the action out for the occasion! There are lots of interesting things about the pianos. The most stricking is the underside... the beams are joint to the rim in a rather unusual, seemingly rather labor-intensive manner that I don't think is retained in today's F-228's. (I'm not going to try to describe it with words... this sort of thing needs pictures, pictures that I don't have.) The whole thing just screams out "attention to detail" and quite possibly "over-engineering." In the afternoon, thanks to Mikhailoh's recommendation, I went to the Rosemont Theater to see the Radio City's Rockettes "Christmas Spectacular" performance. Those Rockettes... they... they... they kick very high! ![]() So, poor me... stuck with a Fazioli F-228 in the morning, and stuck with 18 pairs of high-kicking Rockette legs in the afternoon... poor me.

Aah, fair enough. I think we had snow around that time... for about a day. Really weird weather this year. It has snowed twice. Both times, it was 100% melted within 2 days. |

Things are tough all over. Ax, that is truly taking lemons and making lemonade. I'm glad you had a good time. The Rosemont is so close to the airport. Ever see such nice legs? |
