I always bought everything I could afford. This didn't give me complete colours but one of almost every colour. I then traded them in to get one or two complete colours without actually having to land on that specific lot. Worked most of the time. |

Make sure you're the bank, and put your money in close proximity to the bank. When you get up to make everybody strong mixed drinks, slip-slide away. This is not cheating, it's how real business works. |

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead

My family plays Monopoly for blood. Most outsiders will not play with us. Well..not twice anyway. The key to monopoly is get the orange properties. Cheap, cheap to build on and everyone will land on them. It will be faster to get hotels than other properties. They are high rent enough to wipe most out if you get hotels, if not they provide you an income stream to build other properties. The purple ones and the light blue ones are desireable as well, but the lighty blue only early. The green ones are expensive to buy and to build on. You need to be able to build quickly. Now go crush your opponents in the merciless maw of the marketplace. Ho ho ho. |

ZOOOOOM!

Take Australia or South America as soon as you can. Indonesia and Brazil are the respective bottlenecks into those continents, and so if you control the whole thing with troops dug in in those key countries, you're guaranteed 2 extra men a turn. That's key. If in South America, your next objective should be North America. If in Australia, your best bet is to skip across to Africa. Europe and Asia are pipe dreams; they're too open and too hard to defend. Don't go for these until the very end. |

Aqua has not had his coffee yet.. But that is good Risk advice. If you get North and South America you need only defend three countries and you get 7 armies per turn. You will win. I love that game - it wa a blood sport in my family too. Come to think of it, all games in my family were blood sport. 3 boys. |

"Any man who would make an X rated movie should be forced to take his daughter to see it". - John Wayne There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it". Henry II: I marvel at you after all these years. Still like a democratic drawbridge: going down for everybody. Eleanor: At my age there's not much traffic anymore. From The Lion in Winter. | |

Hey..This always happens to me: I have a really good start, and I am doing better then everyone else in terms of both money and property. But then, I get unlucky somewhere in the middle - and lose. Sometimes it is purely being unlucky, as this game is based on luck - but maybe my early game has to be better? Should I buy everything that I land on? |

I did that in my last game, and I did have a lot of good stuff - but no full color sets yet. I was always really low on money because I bought so much, and I had to mortage a bit in order to pay for things - I ended up making some trades, which went well, but the game shifted against me later as I did not have as much money - I think my beginning affected it a bit. |
