mmmaestro007, I've been looking over some of the threads that you've started in. Unfortunately, we don't have a search engine here, so it's difficult to find things other than by who started a thread.

However, if you'd allow me to make some observations.

You seem particularly hostile to some members here. Though the "veiled obscenity" is not too uncommon, such as writing "sh!t" instead of the actual word (that has alway struck me as being a bit hypocritical - say what you mean and mean what you say), your use of the "F-Bomb" seems to me to be unique here. Yes, there are those who will call others idiots and demand that they "pay attention," but your unbridled hostility seems beyond the pale.

What has provoked you, and why are you so hateful?

I'm going to go outside my normal parameters and give mmmaestro a serious reply.

1. So your position is that public servants, government workers, should not have the pensions they have worked for safeguarded and provided for?  Government jobs are no piece of cake. many of them are mind-numbingly boring and stifling for anyone with a shred of creativity. I seriously doubt it is different down under.

Perhaps you should instead look at it as your government acting now to fulfill a sacred trust in an age when corporations are trying to get out of paying their obligations to retired workers.

2. I would venture to say your telecom infrastructure is a mess precisely because it was mangled managed by government. Privatizing it will bring you a far more robust system. Watch and see.

3. Get a job. Your country needs you.  Seriously.

ah!........so there is a brain inside that melon head of yours after all

firstly, the 'old' super scheme was set up in the '60's and is a very very generous scheme - this may have been to compensate for low salaries as govt employees were poorly paid back then compared the private sector
but from the '70's onwards salaries were increased and now are probably $10k pa higher than those in the private sector for ordinary workers
around 1990, all new employees were employed under a new scheme (a not so generous scheme)and old employees had the option to join this or remain in the old scheme - i think the writing was on the wall then for what's happening now

everybody agrees that the pension in 20 years and more will either be non-existent or will hardly be enough to buy the weekly groceries
same can be said for the quality of healthcare, water supplies, roads etc. or virtually everything that Govt provide
in short, everybody else is going to taking the pain except public servants
surely the most equitable way would be to roll back their benefits in line with the rest of the country

secondly, the telecom infrastructure needs a $4 billion upgrade which Telstra promised and then reneged

thirdly, f@ck off!

007, whether you work is your business and not mine (and you are entitled to speak your mind about your own country last time I checked) but WHEN Mik says he's giving you a serious answer IS the time NOT to say _______ off.

I like your posts just fine which is why I wish you would stop telling people off with curse words- John doesn't like it- he doesn't seem like the type to _____ with.

my employment is a VERY personal and sensitive issue and anyone who offends me in this area will endure all abuse possible within the rules of this forum

The claim of employment sensitivity is very difficult to take seriously after you were just telling people 'its not worth my time to work for $x an hour'.

You know what they say about people who live in glass houses?

Anyway, I'm not arguing with anybody tonight, I've got enough trouble trying to get to pre-schoolers to sleep. Merry Christmas Mmmaestro.
