Buy an expensive diamond and ask them to throw one in in the deal. (holding a nice loupe in my hand right now and appraising its value for sale to Crash)

I haven't heard of an illuminated loupe. You say powerful. I assume you mean magnificaion. 10x is standard. You can find 20x and 30x model too. (Or do you mean powerful light?) There is a German one that has optics that can be used separately (10x or 20x) or together (for 28x) for $300+. It is not on this site. I'll see if I can find it. I believe jewelers usually use separate lights, also available here. http://www.ajstools.com/products/jewelry/loupe.html |

Here's that fancy one with a lens that can flip over for higher power. Sorry it's not $300. It's $425. http://www.kassoy.com/loupes03.htm Snip: The Weinschenk Loupe is a first class loupe with a unique combination of magnifications—10X and 20X, and 28X when the two lenses are used together.

Oh sure Kenny, you come up with 5 posts in 2 minutes when Crash asks for your diamond expertise. But I don't get doodly from ya after asking twice and a PM as well? Geesh, I guess I know where I stand, here in this circle of life. No really though, (I keep saying that), I'm happy to say that I found a great diamond and ring set for the price, and just know my girl will love me forever for it. Just gotta remember to give her the d__ in a box present once in a while to keep her honest. |

I play alot of dominoes. When you go out, you get the total of the other guys bones. But you only count in increment of 5. So say he had 13 points, I would get 15. So you do the math. I belive my thread has drifted into the snowbank of the second page by now, but I did specifically ask you by name, as well as PM you for more detailed info. Called "draggin my boots too long" Stay vigilant! |

Today? Which thread? (I don't read them all, even if I started it, if I get disgusted.) Do PMs vanish after a few hours or days? Sorry. I do ignore some people/posts if I feel it is pointless, but not a PM. PM me again. |

Could it have been before January 10, 2006? That is the oldest PM sitting in my Inbox. Perhaps you PMd someone else? Perhaps you are on drugs? |

I am not only on drugs, I'm totally drunk from the dizzying array of light and fire escaping this 1 carat stone I just bought. No but really Kenny, thank you, because I was directed to an earlier thread where you gave a nice bunch of info on buying diamonds. You obviously are a man of equisite tastes. That's cool. PS: let me know when that BB drops below 30.

I would Kenny, but the danged TSA agents at the airport broke my camera. (long story, read the Is Bush Sorry thread). But thank you. I plan on proposing tomorrow night at a restaurant, and I haven't been able to eat a thing since I planned this all out 2 days ago. But let me share a little side story that happened to me just 2 hours ago. I went to the jewelry store to pick up my rings as they set the main stone yesterday, (no it doesn't have 88 facets but it is brilliant and is an FSI1) and when the lady opened the box and looked at it she got this curious look on her face right away and said only "it looks nice". She didn't even want to show it to me as she kept her body in front of it. So I say let me look at it and she relents and shows me the engagement ring, the center stone clearly set askew on the ring. Actually the prongs were askew and it was quite shocking that their setter could turn out such a shoddy job. But as you know, these guys are busier than a bee right now and anyways they take it back and try to fix it. Remember, (from my draggin my boots thread), the ring is made of Palladium and so after they work on it the lady decides that the setting is unsafe now and lets me know they're changing the prongs out and using white gold instead cuz it's easier to ply with. Now, I've been there a half hour and told it will be at least another half hour to do this. So, not really angry yet, just in a bit of a fog on eveything. This is certainly not what I expected walking into the store. So I go back to my car, sit down, ponder a bit, look up, see a liquor store right in front of me, get out, go in, buy 2 tall boys of Coors, back to car, sit , think, drink, and smoke for a another half hour. I'm feeling a bit underservice here. Here, I just spent a wad of money on a wedding set with an uncertified stone, they're fu__ing my ring up as I wait around and they think I'm gonna walk out of their store a happy customer blabbing to all his friends to go here cuz the're the best?? I think not. So I go back in, fortified with 48 ounces of Coors and a deterimined resolve to sqeeze as much as I can out of this endeavor. No really Kenny, I just wanted to bring up these things I just stated to the person that counts there, their manager. Anyways, he turns out to be a straight shooter, (no pun intended), and first thing he tells me is he wants customers to be treated like he would. He totally understood my inconvenience and not only is he ordering a Palladium prong setting for my ring to be reset when he gets it, he gave me half off of the selling price of a man's band I liked. He also gave me a good 10 minute talk on metallury. I got the whole poop on Platinum, Palladium and Gold. He's a true metallurgist you know. But I'm home now, with my rings, and sitting here thinking about what I'm gonna say tomorrow. Anyways, a new life starts. |
