"Meanwhile, sources close to the Hamas-led government claimed that Hamas representatives recently held talks with officials from the US Democratic Party at a secret location." Find proof of this and get back to us. |

If it does turn out to be true, what should happen to these Democrat leaders? |

Who knows? How can you analyize a news report without facts, that is nothing but innuendo. I'm serious- if there are facts to report- then let's talk about it. (and you are getting ahead of yourself- it said officials, not leaders) |

Come on Daniel, we discuss hypotheticals here all the time. If it were shown to be true that certain Democrat leaders had had secret meetings with the terrorist group Hamas, what should happen to them? |

What do you want, Daniel? It is not innuendo to say, as the article did, that Hamas leaders met with Dem reps, as well as with European leaders. It may not be proof positive, but it is NOT innuendo. |

I agree... sounds pretty fishy. If Hamas sources said they had spoken to Republican Party officials, I'd want proof too. |

It makes no sense for Hamas to hack the Dems off after they just gained more clout by making false claims. |

What "officials" first of all- were the Hamas "representives" "officials" - If the Democrat leaders met with terrorist Hamas officials and thereby committed treason they should be executed. I mean come on- that's pretty "non-hypothetical". |

Daniel, Hamas IS a terrorist organization masquerading as a poltical party. Everyone who is part of Hams is a de facto terrorist. And I don't think the Desm would send over congressional pages to meet with these guys, do you? |

Frankly, I don't care if they're elected officials or party honchos - of either party, for that matter. Private citizens go to jail for supporting and dealing with Hamas. Resident aliens are convicted and deported for doing the same. I would want to know if these meetings, if they occurred, were secret, but officially sanctioned, sessions - which would be bad enough - or if they were acting as individuals or in some unofficial backroom sort of capacity. And I'd damn sure want to know the purpose of the meeting. Government officials are not at liberty to "freelance" with foreign agents, particularly those the government has declared to be terrorists. |

Actually the Democrats and in particular the Kennedy family, have an illustrious history of tippling with not only with likes of de Valera, Adams and other Sinn Fein officials but also a few Provo IRA types. |

Precisely. And, as Hamas IS a terrorist organization, and since we are in the middle of The War On Terror, it makes any meetings of this sort, an act of treason. |

Like I said- get back to us when there is proof. Personally I hope someone is our government is talking to other governments. It is petulant and arrogant and doing us no favor to say We're not going to reward you by talking to you- For one thing- the government in question is democratically elected whether we like or not. For another- if we don't talk to "bad" governments we won't be talking to many of them and this might not be in our best interest. This discussion is very leading- asking us to say that "Democrat leaders" are terrorist collaborators- I think it's kind of unfair and offensive- and especially without facts to go on because some biased online news rag said so. Republicans have a history of talking to notorious political parties AC- it's there for anyone who wants to look it up. |

Daniel, We have been talking with the Palestinians since time immemorial. Would you like to show me what it has gotten us? One shattered (by them) agreement after another. One of the tools of statesmanship is not recognizing the legitimacy of your enemies.. and make no mistake.. Hamas is our enemy. They need us far more than we need them. Not one single American aid dollar should go to the West Bank or Gaza while Hamas is in power, and, frankly, I can see no legitimate reason to talk with them. |

This is not news or rather it is just now being leaked. I'm not surprised, I expected they would. I further expect that the Western intelligence community has already been in contact with them as well. How else can that amount of money (and I'll bet it's many times more) get into their hands? That kind of money would have to be important for something, to somebody. The interest will be watched. |

The current Junior Senator from Massachusetts met with the North Vietnamese while in the Naval Reserve. No one batted an eye then. I don't see what the hoopla is about. Anyone should be able to talk to anyone, right? |
