Long story short, I did not smoke all day and took 4 pieces of nicotine gum. In the evening I wimped out. I had a pack of cigarettes in the house and I smoked 5 before going to bed. They say not to mix nicotine gum and cigarettes. I can report it does make you sick. I am going to try again very soon. Friday I can't be sick. I know it is not impossible. Clearly I should not have any around. How about you? |

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
|
Yes, Daniel, I would make sure you have none around. Are you starting any sort of exercise program? It will take out a lot of that nervous energy.. occupy some time too. |

Yes it can. Just remember that if you ever go on the patch never have a cigarette while wearing it- the resulting nicotine overdose could give you a heart attack. |

Good point, Mik. Yes, I am. The first day though I don't think- I get in bad shape for 3-6 days the times I've quit before- after that- I think it's going to be essential. |

I'm sitting here in my nonsmoking hotel room in a my nonsmoking hotel, puffing on one as I type. I'm so weak. I just got back from a loooong walk. I needed the exercise. My hotel is close to the Capitol and I took a meandering route to the Lincoln Memorial and back. damm! I;m pooped. Only got 4 hours of sleep last night as we got to our hotel after 11pm and were starving. Walked to Chinatown and had a meal at a nice joint called Clydes and didn't get to sleep until after 2. Going down hard right about now The fight isn't over yet Daniel. |

I didn't think a business trip would be the right time because it's a lot of concentration involved and you don't need something else to be concerned about but I do believe all of us are going to quit soon. |

iTt'S a lovely restaurant. I got therre during the seattle green bay game and at first thought the game was in green bay as there was snow on the ground. Turns out it was in Seattle and was just happy that there was a joint that served food after midnight. PS: I've smoked cigs with a patch on more than once and didn't die. Not saying it's not dangerous but there you have it. |

Quitting is a process. Don't beat yourself up over it. I got some medicine today.. Apparently, it's supposed to make you nauseous if you smoke, and then later, make you nauseous even to THINK about smoking. Maybe a case of the cure being worse than the condition? Tomorrow morning is my first dose... Hang in there, Daniel. Very very best wishes. I know exactly what you're going through, pal. |
