HOLY CARP!!!

Just saw it on Saturday. Thoughts? I thought it was a good movie, well done, exciting, etc. But it was a different kind of Bond movie. Bond wasn't the tall dark-haired handsome fellow I'm used to seeing. Where was Q? There was very little focus on the gadgets, and all we really saw of his car was the defibrilator and the munitions storage. The only time he said "Bond, James Bond" was at the very end. All that aside, I did like it -- I wonder what someone would think if s/he had never seen any other Bond films before this one! (found out tonight that two of my friends have never seen a Bond movie before...) On a side note, why so many different actors for Bond? There have only been two M's, and one Q, but six Bonds. Even the other characters get confusing sometimes... M used to be a man, now she's a girl, and if Casino Royale is to be the first Bond story, then do we say that M was first a girl (Judi Dench) and then a man and now she's back to being a girl again (Judi Dench again)? (We even see her in bed with her husband in Casino Royale) How about Felix Leiter? He's black in Casino Royale... but he's white in License to Kill. I think Moneypenny is a different actress in every film. Speaking of Moneypenny, where was Moneypenny in Casino Royale? |

I've had a couple people ask me about it, and my quick review is this: The new Bond actor is great, very fun to watch, and refreshing. The movie, however, was mediocre and could have been much better. |

Didn't really look like "James Bond"... he was a good actor, though. |

Lois Maxwell played Miss Moneypenny in every Bond movie from Dr. No to A View o a Kill (except Never Say Never Again - not an official bond film). There have been 5 actresses that played Moneypenny total - one fewer than the number of Bond actors. Connery and Lazenby were, IMO, the best Bonds to date. Dalton was just awful. Brosnan was acceptable, but the storylines were bad. We'll see about the new guy. |

So live your life and live it well. There's not much left of me to tell. I just got back up each time I fell. | |

I've got a great idea for a Bond movie storyline. Tell me what you think. There's this really rich, evil guy with a physical disability and he's going to blow up the world unless they give him big moolah. Only problem is he's surrounded himself with hot women, and kind of dorky looking guys, and things are looking bad. Luckily, JB sneaks in, is captured, lets all the ladies sample the Great British banger, kills all the blokes, and Bob's your uncle, everything is peachy again. A great idea for the closing scene is Bond giving the old girl a good seeing to. What do you think? Too original for Hollywood? More explosions? |
