HOLY CARP!!!
|
We flew to CT last Monday to stay at my sister's for Thanksgiving week. On the way from the airport my sister and brother-in-law were grilling (in the usual friendly family way) my 12 yo about what she's doing, etc. My daughter went into her piano stuff and my sister said, "we need to buy a piano!" so we dropped my b-in-l, my wife and my youngest daughter off in Conn and we drove down to NYC. We went to Beethoven on 58th--a nice Boserdorfer, Steinway D and A-- all from the 1890's-- a little on the old side. Also, went to Faust Harrison--where the piano salesman went on and on about the differences of fingering between Liszt and Chopin (seems Liszt is more pianist friendly.) We ended up at Steinway Hall, my daughter tried every piano there--liked a Anniversary "B" and my sister bought it. Even signed by some old Steinway guy. We had dinner at the Cafe des Artistes and they delivered the piano the next day. (EXCELLENT service.) Not exactly the BEST way to buy a piano--but we had fun--and my sugar and spice got to play her songs for my sister. They put it in the den--looks great--plays pretty nice, too. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Oh yea, it had one of those record disk--thingies--I always looked down my nose at them but actually, they're pretty nice. |

Hey, it was a bargain - she got to hear your daughter to play the piano. Looks like a nice piano. Hope your sister and her family have much joy from that piano. Nice story, beautiful piano and room. Ken |

Mmmmmmm, pie!

Tom, the delivery guys put the legs on wrong. See how the back leg is sticking out past the rim? That's a front leg. One of the legs on the front will have a smaller top piece on it than the other. That's the back leg. |

All kinds on my part. But my sister and B-in-l do as they do. High tech house, too. The windows are actually tempered glass that darken as the light gets brighter. They never need shades--so the story goes. Also, the room is on the north side of the house so direct sunlight never gets in. |

I thought that leg looked a bit strange. |
