I just left a restroom without PaperTowels, just the hand dryers. They had a sign up stating that to help the environment, they were only using the dryers from now on. I think they were just trying to save money. What do you think?

Depends. Some people can dry their hands with one sheet of paper towel, some others require 3 sheets minimum. Some people can dry their hands in 1 minute under the hot air dryer, some others require 3 minutes minimum.

Kenny, most paper towels are made of recycled paper.

Hot air dryers in public washrooms are hygenic.

WTF do you want?

Clearly, the best thing for the environment is not to wash your hands. It's probably better for the world all around. More of us will get sick and die, it will be the weaker ones amongst us, so that's a good thing. Survival of the fittest and all. Death is the mechanism of progress.

Cheers!

The way I see it, they can plant more trees. You can't make more oil. Of course, the chainsaws cutting the trees down are using oil and gas. As are the trucks transporting them to be processed. As are the machines doing the processing. Damnit, can I change my vote?

I'd say unless the hand dryers are using a heckuva lot of energy, the paper towels are more wasteful.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

But trees are renewable. The oil driving the electric generators isn't. Plus, as mentioned before, most paper towels are recycled.

There's an environmentalist saying that goes "trees don't grow on trees". Tree harvesting can require quite a large amount of energy. The industrial machines used to do so are often very energy ineffecient. So it depends on the energy effeciency of the dryers vs. the energy cost of tree harvesting. So my guess is, unless the electricity used by the dryers is very great, it'd be better to use the dryers.

which means we should all continue to wipe our wet hands on our britches like we've been doing anyway...those things don't work!
