November 11 is a very special day for Canadians and other Commonwealth nations. This year in particular, Canadians are being reminded of the ultimate sacrifice our troops are willing to make fighting the Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists in Afghanistan. Our thoughts are with them, their families and the memory of their fallen comrades not only in this call to duty but in all calls to duty a soldier, sailor and airman makes. Lest we Forget. With that in mind, we should also not overlook the current homefront battle that our Legionaires are fighting to keep the honour of our fighting and fallen troops alive. The following describes the extent to which the Canadian version of Cindy Sheehan will go to besmirch and tarnish the honour of Canadians in uniform:
"healthy debate" indeed. Shame. |

I don't object to the idea of selling a peace symbol, but to piggyback it onto the red poppies of November 11th is absolutely disgusting. I love the red poppies, they are such a great symbol. |

Thank you to our Canadian and English allies for your help during so many times of war, and for your courage and everlasting friendship. Thank you most of all, to your young men who have given their lives in defense of freedom and made the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you... Always... |

My grandfather fought at Passchendaele. He still had awful nightmares about it over 50 years later. Sadly, he couldn't forget, however much he might have wanted to. We need to make sure that we don't either. |

My father never met an uncle and three cousins because of the 1917 offensives. I won't even begin to describe what WWII cost our my family and my wife's family. |

"Any man who would make an X rated movie should be forced to take his daughter to see it". - John Wayne There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it". Henry II: I marvel at you after all these years. Still like a democratic drawbridge: going down for everybody. Eleanor: At my age there's not much traffic anymore. From The Lion in Winter. | |
