Within three months with no major changes in Iraq (Oh, maybe there'll be a few more or few less troops there, some minor procedural changes but the focus will remain stabilize, train, reinforce.....), the Democrats will come out with a statement basically saying that Bush has thing's so screwed up over there, that we can have no withdrawal plans and must (not the words they will use) stay the course. Thus turning everything back on Bush and the republican party in prep for the 2008 elections. |

It's not far from the truth. Except that W is still in charge of the war and foreign policy generally. There WILL be changes stemming from Baker and Gates and I expect they will be smart ones. The Democrats deserve the credit for being the catalyst for this change (and getting rid of the biggest obstacle), but they are in position to dictate any plans. jf |
