I posted another topic asking "what happens to centrists here??

Looks like the country is trending strongly toward the center.

Finally
Given the "Heeere's Nancy...." thread, Steve, do you really think that the proposals (and voting history) of the incoming Speaker of the House are centrist?

Centrist is what people call themselves when they aren't informed enough to form an opinion.

HOLY CARP!!!
The centrists, if you want to call them that, like Jim Webb and Bob Casey, Jr., were critical to the Democrat victory. Integrating them into the party that is now getting a lot of pressure from the loony left to cut and run in Iraq - oops, I mean redeploy and to begin impeachment proceedings will be interesting to watch.

Conservative (read: blue dog) Democrats did very well in this election by capitalizing on voter disaffection with the abandonment of Conservatism by their Republican opponents. I hope Republicans in Congress all get together in a room and brainstorm hard on how far they strayed from the values that put them in the majority 12 years ago.

There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it".

Their main problem is that there hasn't been a Democrat President getting BJ's in the Whitehouse for simply ages. Clinton was a centrist because all he ever thought about was the middle muscle.

OK, I admit it, I've had a couple of drinks.

Actually, if you look at the election results, the country still drives on the right side of the curve. There are now about 40 blue dogs in the new House, and I think Ms. Pelosi is going to have her hands full....

No I certainly don't think Pelosi is a centrist. However, I think both the republicans and dems got the message that the majority of voters do not want Washington to be at the extremes. The neo-cons were rebuked and the ultra-liberal ideas will get no traction.

I this we are going to return to centrism...at least passed 2008.

Only if it has to win a primary.

I tend towards the left on a lot of things, and to the right on others. I consider myself a centrist, and in fact, I feel that the middle of the road is the only place where our nation has any lasting strength, whatsoever. Cooperation, bipartisanship, a rejection of extremist views and methodology. United we stand. The art of compromise, teamwork, and cooperation: These things have been missing for a long long time. Now that makes sense!
