HOLY CARP!!!
I am still looking for a decent mid-sized, used grand.

Playing the piano will be a lovely, middle-aged woman who used to be a decent piano player as a girl, and her two sons (who are just starting, but no doubt will be very talented).

Our paper has two Kawai's listed today:

1. Model KG1E for $7250, walnut finish; and

2. Kawai 5 '6'' -- 13 years old asking $9500, black high gloss.

Would anyone recommend / not recommend following up on these models? I can't find out much about the KG1E. This is all the info. I have.

My budget is around 10K.

Car analogies are always welcome. :cool2:

As a Kawai owner I can say i have been very pleased with the piano. However, I understand the older models were not so good. Thirteen years is probably okay but I also understand the RX models (what I have) are much better than the KG. Get a competent technician to check under the hood (to use a car analogy). Try and talk them down in price. A new one of these does not run very much more. The RX-2 can be had around 14 or 15K and the KG (if that is what it is) would run less. Sadly, that is the extent of my piano knowledge. I just play it and hire a guy to worry about the other stuff.

Oh, and I, personally, would take a pass on the KG1E. Too small.

apple
one of the angels
you should definitely check out every possible piano in your price range which will probably spend better in the used sector.

i've looked at some cheap production models - both grand and upright and you would not believe how cheap some of the parts are.

- apple who wouldn't mind selling pianos at ALL.
it behooves me to behold
