Up at 5 am this morning, getting ready to report to hospital at 6:15, for shoulder surgery today.

Man, I'm thirsty and hungry, but can't put nothing down my throat.

Comeon doc, not even a morning cup of coffee??

Anyways, back when I got hit by a car, really messed up my right elbow.

Didn't realize until a couple weeks later that my right shoulder also had issues.

Mri is showing tears in rotator as well as labrum.

I'm getting cut by the best shoulder doc in the Valley though, so that's reassuring.

No more piano again for Lord knows how long.

Wish me luck my friends.

Finally
Sigh...shoulder surgery.

Among the most painful recoveries is from shoulder work - ask my wife. The shoulder is one of only 2 joints in the body that is not supported by other bone (the mandible is the other) and therefore relies on muscle, tendon, and ligament to support it. Damage to any of those structures (like the rotator cuff muscles) is tough to heal.

Good luck, NS. Recover fast. Don't be afraid to take pain meds - they will make your rehab better.

Good luck and best wishes for a swift and seamless recovery. Be gentle and patient with yourself and let things heal.

NS, be brave!

Hope you get some nice sympathy on the other side of surgery and that your recovery goes as well as it possibly can. My old boyfriend had his shoulder done a couple of years ago. If it's any comfort, he's returned to baseball, soccer, and jumping out of planes.

take care!

Hope all goes well today, Mr. Sock

Are you going to have to type one-handed for a while?! :darthno: I would imagine your arm will have to be kept totally immobilised.
Keep us posted on your recovery!

If you don't have an attorney yet, you should probably get one. Depending on any residual limitations you end up with after physical therapy, you have a very large amount of compensation coming. I would shop for an attorney the way you shopped for the best shoulder Doc in the valley. That is, unless the responsible party has low insurance limits - then you shouldn't have to share any of it.

Well well, haven't we all been quite post happy!

I come back in less than 24 hours and find this thread all the way on page 3!

everone must be on Red Bull or something!

Surgery went well, and I'm not experiencing the pain that I'd thought I'd have.

Of couse, I/ve beenpopping Vicodins liberally so the second I feel anything creeping back I pop some more.

I had three different things done, superior labrum sewn back together, a pressure relief , and something abradement. No rotator cuff issues after all.

Got lucky there in that my only incisions are the 3 hole punches for the arthroscopy.

Got some cool scope pics too.

Still, doc said this is a 6month rehab, and today I start with some simple arm rotation exercises.

I slept fairly well even though i can't lay on myfavorite side.

Kincaid, yes, I've already hired a lawyer for the personal injury case, and we're just playing the waiting game for now until my medical condition finalizes.
Don't yet know the lady's policy limits but here in Calif, the legal minimum coverage a person can aquire is only $15,000 for 1 person and $30,000 for 2 or more. We'll just have to wait and see.

I want to thank all of you for your kind words of encouragement yesterday. It sure perked my spirits knowing my cyberfriends care about my well being.

Dude. Maybe you could use the third leg to help with the typing while the arm heals. You know, like when you need to use the spacebar. Sure would have helped while typing this sentence.

Tryit... youmightlikeit...

Glad the surgery went well for you NS. :thumb:
