With the balance of Congress having shifted, who will the Dems put up in 08? I've heard Pelosi was largely the architect of their victory... two women candidates?

Frankly, if I were a Democrat, I'd rather Pelosi run than Clinton, just on the basis that Pelosi lived a life prior to running for office. She raised five kids, whereas the Clintons have been pols since day one. The depth of the Clinton intrigues are already pretty well known, and after Bush II I think Americans will not be eager for more reruns. I think they will want fresh faces.

So.. if not Clinton, and I really think running her would be a big mistake...she may have been able to buy the right groups in New York, but I don't think she will be able to nationally, then who?

The next two years could change everything. Especially if Pelosi plays her cards right.

I have a feeling at least one of the people running will be a Governor.

The founding of the bulk of the world's nation states post 1914 is based on self-defined nationalisms. The bulk of those national movements involve territory that was ethnically mixed. The foundation of many of those nation states involved population movements in the aftermath. When the only one that is repeatedly held up as unjust and unjustifiable is the Zionist project, the term anti-semitism may very well be appropriate. - P*D

I would not bet on Hillary getting the nod. Just intuition, but I just don't think anyone wants that couple back in the White House.

I don't think it will be Pelosi. I don't think that she's generally electable, and I doubt that two years in the national spotlight will really help.

I do wonder if Hilary's time frame is running out? It seems like the Clinton's are loosing a little of their sparkle in the eyes of the party.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

During the campaign, Hillary will lose her face while delivering a stump speech - it'll just pop right off and land on a child in the third row. In contrast, Barack Obama will keep his face, get the Democratic nod and win the general election. That is, until people discover that his middle name is Hussein. This just might put a crimp in his electoral plans.

Hillary will run for president.

Hillary will lose the election.

...and I've said it at least since last year:

Hillary will run for president.

And Hillary will be the next president. And the GOP will help her.

Whoever wins will be the candidate most in the center. Although Hillary has a public face of being toward the center, it is rightly seen as false. She won't win unless the GOP puts up a terrible candidate. Not sure if Vilsack has centrist credentials or not, but that name is a liability.

Think Nutsack.
