i think we've politically become to imitative of the corporate work structure to a fault.. at least the electorate.

i don't know about Rumsfield.. i imagine is working thru objectives within parameters.. Sometimes firing the guy in charge is the least expedient thing to do.

(the above is no referendum on the dems taking control of the house. it seems the pendulum always swings as it should)
it behooves me to behold

As much as you would like him gone I believe he is there to stay. Bush still has confidence in him and that is all that matters.

More importantly, Bush can't stand to be perceived as being forced to do something he said he wouldn't do. Firing Rummy (or accepting his resignation, which is the form it would take) would be widely viewed as a cram-down. W's defining characteristic is stubbornness.
It would be unwise to underestimate what large groups of ill-informed people acting together can achieve. -- John D'Oh, January 14, 2010.

Gotta admit, you nailed that one except you gave him too much time.

I respect you and all, JB, but I think were going to have to agree to disagree on this.

sorry, i'm done gloating now.

if its any consolation, i've predicted 7 out of the last 3 recessions...

 At least you got three of them. That is really not so bad considering the track records to compare with.

Look at the bright side...in the next 12 months you'll have less money to worry about.

OK bright boy, you gonna be with me predicting the next one begins next year, if it hasn’t started already?

Soros, not one of my faves, but what the hay, he says that loose fiscal policy plus tight monetary policy equals a rising currency, the reverse is also true; tight fiscal policy and loose monetary policy equal a falling currency. What if the new Dems decide to play fiscally conservative while Dr. Bernanke opens the liquidity taps?

Who cares? We want people to buy from us and we want to stop the Americans buying from overseas, except Canada, and oh I know their rising currency is killing them now but that will all be worked out. What will “The Great Republic” get out of it? More of our laws, social customs, education, etc. will be imported from Canada – just the way certain people back in London want it. And you people who insist on home schooling your kids – you’ll be hunted down like the antisocial menace that you are. Brave New World is on its way, to an American community near you.

… be seeing you.

David, its not that our currency is rising- it yours that is tanking.

But I do agree, undeniably our laws, social customs, education etc. will be the wave of the future.

US liberals will be firmly put in their place and true conservatism will once again find a home in the US of A.

Oh yes and the Stanley Cup will come home.

I'm also hoping that Mr. Putin will ammend the constitution and seek a third or fourth term as President. He will show the Europeans how to deal with their Muslims.

From the belief that if Bush was going to dump Rumsfeld, it would have been politically prudent to do so earlier in the campaign. If you are going to fire him the day after the election, there is little long term political benefit in that.

Apparently, W either disagrees with you, or doesn't care about long-term political benefit in this instance, eh?
