There comes a time in every project when the homeowners become convinced that we will never be able to put their house back together again. The Old Miller Place has reached that stage, and if I were doing this for someone else I would be busy doing some serious hand-holding about now. Demolition is complete, plumbing is complete, the walls have been stripped and sanded and the framing is in place for the new closets. The wiring is still to be done and will have to wait until I get back from vacation.

Living room: The painters are making a mess - I jumped them on it this morning.

Kitchen. Counters will be replaced with granite, but we haven't taken the old ones out yet. They're just too handy:

The wall cut is for an icemaker hookup - to replace the Mickey Mouse deal that was there before:

Hall bath - about the last time anyone will see it in it's Lavender glory. Vanity has been removed and being as it fits in a space 41 3/4" wide, it will have to be custom:

Closet framing. It turns out that when my father built the original closets he saw no reason for framing - they were constructed of edge-nailed plywood. They lasted for 30 years so it's hard to argue with the design, but they can't stay that way:

Bedroom 3. The spots on the wall are little bits of glue left when we stripped off the cork. They're going to be a real thrill to remove:

Room addition. You may recall that this room had a drywall ceiling in the last set of pictures. When we stripped the acoustic we found out that the acoustic was about all there was holding it up there - framing was on 32" centers - the original beams in the open beam ceiling. New framing is installed in this photo, air conditioner is to be removed, windows are to be made larger to comply with building code requirements for bedrooms:

Last but not least, a gratuitous photo of the Enterprise IV and the dump trailer:

It will start looking like a house again in the next photo set. Windows are back ordered - look back here in about 2 weeks.

Oh My Glob.

Better you than me.

I'm sure it will be wonderful when it's done.
But all I can think about is the stress and hassle.
But since this is your line of work I imagine this is no big deal for you.

Frankly, I've always enjoyed being at the stage you are at - all your creative work is now about to start. And of course, there is no doubt that you can put this back together. :thumb:

Can't wait to see the finished pictures.
