It's nothing to do with the article, but this caught my eye...

Boris Johnson is MP for Henley

I think he's what is commonly called a 'colourful character'.

Lib Dems for Boris

I believe he may be Tony Blairs secret weapon of mass destruction. He makes me proud to be Canadian.

Both of those two facts are true, but Boris is actually trying to defend English music, and let's face it, British popular music is pretty damn fine in places.

There is also a sub-text to this article. What Boris is actually doing is criticising mainland Europe and Tony Blair's Labour Party. That's about all English Conservative politicians do nowadays.

British rock bands aside, I rather like the music of Sir Arnold Bax.

I think you missed the parting shot as well as the whole point of the article.

What would you rather take from the 20th century: the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, or Nina Hagen's 99 Red Balloons? Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Schmitz.

More on the author. I do love an idiotic Tory.

Boris Johnson

Quote:

The leadership of the Conservative Party is one of the most important jobs in British politics after being Prime Minister, Chancellor, any other sort of minister, a special adviser and Alastair Campbell.
This website, and the campaign behind it, was created to support Boris Johnson in his bid to become Conservative leader. It is our belief that he is not only the right man for the job, but the only man for the job. Unfortunately David Cameron beat Boris to the gig in the last election, but we're holding out for next time.

In the meantime, we're supporting Boris's accidental bid to become deputy leader of the Labour Party.

Yeah, some other blogger on the site mentioned that.
